I have more than 72 bowmen in this style with eye shields to repaint. I have removed most of the old card bases most will need cleaning and or stripping.
I am going to paint these in batches of 16 so that I will have whole units for WOTR. I will take out the command element for units for skirmish.
I am trying to decide if I should restore the sleeping orc sentry figures as standard bearers. I may be able to get some more Heritage standards I may wait to decide.

The Girls like Battle Masters so I will make a Battle of Five Armies conversion while I am at it.

It's cool seeing these old models...how do they look side-by-side with the GW ones?

Love these old models. Have not seen these ones before where do you get them from or are they ones you had originally. Have you got the dragon?

I do not have the Archive Dragon. I have traded for these over the years most are originals some are from estates of departed friends. I understand, that some of the Archive miniatures may be available again. http://www.classicminiatures.net/

I will pull some out this afternoon for photos. The short answer is small.

Nice of you to share with us. I didn't exist when these were first out, reminds me how old some of you are. Most of these would probably be hard to find nowadays.

Do you have any of the big ones?

From the early 70's the figures were small. During the 80's they began to range about the the size of the current LOTR figures.
The figures on the right back row with red shields are Hobgoblins.

RP Giant Orcs 1977

Some Mixed figures waiting to be rebased

current LOTR

Some 1980's GW and late Heritage? they may be very early Reaper
You can see most of these are about right size wise.

Watching this with great interest. Glad to see you have help, my little helpers are still at the stage of either putting everything in their mouth or helping by banging things together
Love you work room is it very large? I am consigned to a very small old caravan outside, hopefully in the next 10 years I will get round to building a large hobby room

The work room is in a two car garage. My youngest has a lot of enthusiasm for the older models because of the cartoons. I have to cut out lots of extra blocks for her to paint when we make houses.

Lots of green metallic houses

I found these at the dollar store when I was buying school supplies. The kids want to use them for Battle Masters and came up with rules as well. The LOTR conversion is going well.

I have given up on TSBG and WOTR. No one wants to collect GW LOTR or play around here. I have decided to use the club rules for the Battle of Five Armies. I am going to base the Army list on the linked article.
These RalParth elves were painted some time after 1977 with Testors military flat enamels. They are in over all good shape. I replaced there paper/card bases with laser cut 3mm plywood and am waiting for new wire spears/pikes and magnetic base bottoms. I have another 36 pike elves based waiting to be primed.I will mix flocking and base the whole army at one time. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RalParthaMinis/
I have enough Old glory Norman spear to use for lake men ready to go. I have more than enough dwarves ready.I also have enough Goblins already based for Warhammer.I have way more than 300 so I want have to use some of the goofy goblins.
I am going to continue to work on the very old (1977) Ral Partha orcs in batches of 64 for the Battle of Five Armies.
Image
At least I will be able to play more often if I convert to the club rules.

I am waiting on a large magnetic base bottom order from Litko. http://www.litko.net/ They are at Gen Con this week.
I have re-based and primed a lot of figures. They don't look like much black.

I re-based a number of Normans until I decided to use this moment tray system

The Great Dragon is worth as I may be able to get one but unsure on the price.

That is a hard question because I have not seen one at any price for years
Have you had good luck ordering from Classic. All of mine are original but I would not mind filling in the gaps with recast.

My 2nd lot of Heritage from Classic cam last week and i am very happy with them. The quality of the casting is better than some of my original ones and with the new metal I don't have to worry about lead rot!

I need more command groups so I will add that to my budget and make a order. 8)

The price I have been quoted is $300 which seem a bit steep but maybe not seeing as how rare they seem to be

I was looking for a copy of Warhammer Quest because my cards were ruined in a flood. I could not find one for less than $200. I think that is a lot too.
I remember when a coke was 5 cents
