Here are a few shots of an unknown Fiefdom. I can't decide what to call these guys. What do you think? Bodies are Black Tree Design, with head swaps from Ebob. I did the Cavalry and foot figures the same just bec ause they look so good together. The symbol was something that I saw on a Tolkien site somewhere and I thought that it looked cool. All the shields and symbols were painted by my friend Roger, not me. I don't have that much talent. The conversions, basing and drybrushing/highlights are all mine.. Comments? |

Afraid I can't help with a name, but those conversions have worked really well! The paintjobs are very nice as well, really neatly done, no overspill. The bases look spot on too, not just flat grass, but plenty of undergrowth and wild brushland. Great stuff! |

All that blue hurt my eyes. Otherwise I love the conversions and the colour scheme (just too much/bright blue). Somewhere in thie article (link) there is a list of regions in Gondor. Pick one that ou like that is not in use. Good luck. http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Gondor |

Like your other work I've seen, I love it! Very original use of different miniatures and excellent painting. The bases are also very nicely done. Personally these minis strike me as being from Dol Amroth, but since you already have some from that city, you could either say these are Men-at-arms or say they are from Pelargir. |

Lovely conversions and paint jobs! As for where they could be from, I was looking into this for some of my own models. I found out that there is a city/town in the Belfalas region called Tarnost. It is only mentioned briefly and I think it was only on one of Tolkien's maps. It's near and would have been ruled by Dol Amroth, so that would provide a good reason for the similar but different style. Hope this helps |

Gentlemen, thank you for the kind words. I strive to add unusual units to my Fiefdom armies, because I feel that GW shortchanged us on them. Not to mention that you can add good looking troops to your collection for a fraction of the cost of the GW models. The photo's really suck. I am going to try to fix them with Photoscape and bring out the colors more. They look too washed out. As for the comment about the blue hurting your eyes, I was concerned about that also. I was thinking that perhaps the reins of the horses should be painted either white or yellow just to break up all that blue. Any thoughts on that would be helpful. What you see here is just a few examples of the army. I have 16 Cavalry and 24 foot figures finished. The final touches will be the Banner bearer and Captain. I also plan to paint the rims of the bases an earth brown color. I really like the idea of Tarnost. I do some digging but I think that Tarnost is a winner. Great suggestion. Thanks. Hey Jack (Lord Erkenbrand) What do you think? |

You mention breaking up the blue, I don't think it's an issue for the foot-troops, but the riders it is a little. The only thing I would do is paint the reins the same brown you have painted the shoulder-waist belts (having a brain-fart, can't remember what they are called!) to break up that sea of blue. I think white would be a little overpowering as well, there is already a lot of white on there. Orange is the opposite of Blue and a dark orange opposite of this light blue and that would balance the whole miniature. Brown fits into that category rather well! Anywho, yeah, Tarnost sounds cool! |

King, I was considering a yellow to break up the blue on the horses. Which would work better a pale yellow or a brighter yellow? |

Maybe you could paint the white tree on the horse's armour/cloth thingy? |

Maybe you could paint the white tree on the horse's armour/cloth thingy? Probably due to bad photography, you cannot see that the horses have the white symbol painted on the rear of the covering (I don't know what that's called either). It's painted on both sides of the horses. I've been playing around with Photoscape trying to enhance the photos. Hopefully, I'll be able to put better pictures up when I am finished. |
