I had this idea last year when I first started to collect models, but it got no further than an idea. I joined the one ring a few weeks ago and have been inspired to have a go.
I also was introduced to Majestic Bear Miniatures! Daves tree giants will feature in this.
The plan is to make a set of modular terrain pieces that can be placed in a variety on ways.
At the moment there will be three main sections, two featuring dead trees and a third being tree stumps. I also aim to add a number of smaller pieces which can include an abandoned orc encampment, remains of a fire or anything that seems to fit. (Well open to ideas if anybody wants to chip in).
At the back end of last year I made a couple of prototypes, just to get an idea.

Granted, not very inspiring. They just look like twigs, but with a bit of window dressing I think the idea can be made to work.
These two will be the basis of the main dead tree pieces. (Treebeard is in for scale).

The one on the left is actually a dead bonsai tree, I intend to chop it down and get a bit more drama in the scene.
And of course, the stars of the show!

Next few days I will play with layouts and basing. Hope to get some serious rocks and levels on the bases.
Any ideas would be welcome.
Cheers
