Hi guys, I thought I should start a thread up seen as my favourite part of this hobby is converting and chopping things up! Here are some of my projects: As soon as the plastic eagles were announced I knew I would have to swap some parts with my 4 metal Gwaihirs, here are the results so far... 2 Shieldbearers and 1 Dwarf Captain with throwing axes Unfortunately my least favourite part of the hobby is painting, so I can't guarantee they'll be finished anytime soon! |

Really like these conversions good Mr Moria, however I have to take points away from you for tempting me into starting a Dwarves army Honestly, fantastic work my friend, you've brought a whole new lease of life to these guys. |

Were you meaning this one Mad_dan? : and while I'm posting more pics I might aswell put up my finished Shieldbearers with converted hornblower, and then a boring plain captain (just need basing): If you like what you see feel free to join my gaming clubs page 'Orcward Battles' on facebook, based in Huddersfield but gaming all over (and I'm quite happy for you to use it for LOTR/Hobbit image hosting instead of photobucket etc): http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/102858379815743/ |

Thank you Harfoot, I did one of the realm of battle gaming board days at Warhammer World, it would never have looked as good if I were to try do it at home! Eagle pics added. |

Post subject: | Re: MoriaMadness WIP - Alternative Kings Champion plus banne |
I wanted my kings champion model to look slightly different to the rest, so I decided to give him two shields and give his axes to the heralds. Strange you might say, but he has a story ... I like the idea of a fearless kings champion that will charge into any enemy (followed by his heralds) and throw them over his head using his shields to launch them upwards, allowing the heralds to hack at them in mid air and literally tear through the enemy like a' running-back'. Once into the thick of the battle my kings champion would launch his shields (possibly like a throwing weapon lol) then pull out his axes and its time to party! This idea just makes him a little unique and it suits my style of sticking him with a warband of vault wardens and having a solid D9 unit. Here is a picture from the back: |

Harfoot wrote: Good work, do you ever base your models? Yes I normally wait until I have a days worth and then I'll do 50+ at a time. I have a different base theme for each force but when I base them they are complete and I noticed one-ring prefers WIP rather than finished models To be honest I don't do anything fancy though, its a case of mixed sand, pebble, slate and a bit of various static grass (green/black/yellow). Here's an example, nothing special like I said but it blends with my gaming board: I'm considering adding some snow to the dwarven forces, I'm just undecided at the moment. |

Loving your King's Champ, JT; the heralds and their heraldry (say that with a mouthful of peas) look gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff, mate! |

Post subject: | Re: MoriaMadness WIP - Ents |
I am wanting to take an ent army to the 'battle brothers' event in June @ Warhammer World so I am currently working on some ents in hope that I have them finished in time! Here are my latest: And after chopping up 8 Treebeard models to use as various other ents I decided its about time I built one and kept it as Treebeard - slightly! So inspired by the attack on Orthanc here is my version without Merry & Pippin who are already elsewhere celebrating a well fielded victory: |

ElfLover wrote: Seriously great ents How did you manage to buy 8 treebeards? Ebay!! I pretty much bid on every single second hand/poorly painted treebeard I ever see, it is one of my favourite models. You will see a few of the conversions as I gradually add them to this WIP. Here is a pic of a few in a battle I had recently (not a great pic plus these were the first 3 I converted a while back, they get better ): This is a pic I took a couple weeks ago on my 'production-line': |
