Hey guys I need your help again.

Having suffered cutting foam using a knife and it taking hours (literally) I am thinking about getting a hot wire cutter. The thing is I'm not sure where to get one from. I would prefer to get one from the UK (shipping cost) and fairly cheaply.
Cheers,

Cyndra the Grey

I have one of these. It is not my favorite. I do not know what else is available in the UK.

Thanks for the link. That's a bit too much kit available but I followed some links from the site and found this:

Anyone experienced this? It looks pretty good value to me.

Yes I have the US version of that and it works fine. I do not know what is available but I can suggest some things to look for.
Image
This model has a fence and this very handy circle cutter for about the same price as the one recommended by http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/infopages/page182.html. It also has a plug in for a wand and a sculpting tool.
Image
The wand and the sculpting tool are shown with a pair of custom saws that I made. Also there is a wood burner pen on the left. Some of them have razor blade attachments they are very useful. You might want to look for one of these.
Image
These are commercial tools called hot knives. They are used during construction. The orange one is very expensive and has all of the accessories found on a jig saw. It has an accessory for cutting framing studs into very thick insulation. Very hot and very dangerous. The new one at the bottom only cost about $20 not as capable but at a 10th the price.
Most of the hobby brands have safety elements that cause them to be slow for large jobs. Most people don't do as many huge projects as I do. They will work fine.
The wood burner or a pen solder iron with the screw on razor blades are a must have. The Wire cutter from http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/wood ... 0v-uk.html
is a good buy. I also recommend this one http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/infopages/page169.html
I up loaded the photos from my D -Day project file for Flames of War. Some WIP photos are there if you care to look.

Thanks for the wealth of info Chestnut (your the same guy as Oldman Willow, right?) Yeh it's the wand type that I am looking for.
The top pic looks like a good one, but I guess it'll be more expensive. I think I'll get the wire cutter and the attachment from Antenocitis then. Thanks for heading me in the right direction 8)

I have one like this:

I haven't used it yet though, but I guess it's very easy to make one like this yourself.
The wire they use is available seperately (on ebay)

Yes it is. But it is very easy to hurt yourself too. There are so many very young people here. I used to have a safe plan, but so many people have such a poor back ground with basic tools I am hesitant to suggest it.

Yes, you are also in The ASWA Facebook group I believe. All of the Avatar names are confusing sometimes.
