What is a good methdod for gluing a plastic piece on polystyrene? I'm attaching a plastic statue from the Ruins of Middle Earth set to my Weathertop, which I'm building of the blue/pink styrene. Superglue would melt the blue styrene and I'm not sure how strongly PVA would bond with plastic.

I would use PVA glue..straight from the bottle..( have used it)
and let it set for at least 24hrs..it wont come off easily then

Sometimes worth pinning the statue first. Use superglue to set the pin in the statue and ova for the other part in the styrene.

Liquid nails for small projects.

PVA is over rated for foam. It takes a long time to dry and does not stick well to plastic.

I've used carpenter's glue successfully. Score little hash marks in both surfaces to help the glue adhere better. My favorite brand it Gorilla Glue.

the problem with pva and foam is that pva needs air contact to dry, and the foam does not allow that very well. Thus something like liquid nails that is a chemical reaction that does not require air to dry works better.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I ended up pinning the statue with a wooden cocktail stick - superglue between wood and plastic and PVA between wood and foam, plus a bit of PVA on other contact points.

I'll have to check the Liquid Nails next time I go to the hardware store or craft store. We don't probably have that brand here, but hopefully something similar. I had heard someone talks about liquid nails before but I had no idea what that was. Looks very useful for hobby projects.

There are a host of advertisements for a variety of Liquid Nails products. Some of them are quite funny:
