Hi everyone. Now that it's the holiday season and I have a bit of free time again, I am starting to work on the site upgrade once more. There are a number of preliminary set-up tasks I need to do so it'll be a few days before you start to see things happening. Initially, I'll work towards snazzying up the graphics and bringing the article library back again - I can't believe it's been so long since it went down! Lots to do! |

Yay, made a breakthrough today. A problem that occurs with the article library is that whenever I install it here, it blows up the admin panel. This was the bit that held me up before because I just couldn't find what was wrong. But I've just found the bug in the code and fixed it thanks to a new piece of software that I've installed (CodeLobster) on my home machine. The code goes ever on and on! |

Hope it works... keeping the fingers crossed. Not good, as a superglue tube just broked on me earlier. |

The basic framework is installed now and is working fine. There are no articles yet of course, and when I import them they'll look awful until I pretty them up, but I'm really happy that the framework is there - we're getting very close now! |

The first article is in and looks ok - the images aren't working yet, neither are a couple of the bb tags, but I'll fix those soon. Only 269 more to go. There's a link at the top of the screen called 'Tomes of Wisdom' that will take you to the library. |

Will you have to do them all ONE BY ONE!? That will be a bit painfull! |

Post subject: | Re: A Long Expected Upgrade |
I am hoping not to have to do that. I can automate some parts, but stripping out some of the weird codes that the old system used to insert into the article text will take a bit of thinking about. Even then, it doesn't look like the new system will pick up the normal bbcodes until the actual article is edited and saved again. So yeah, there's a bit of manual cleanup needed for each one. That's cool - as long as I can get them all in and the images working, the rest of it can be done over a period of time |

Well, the images are working (sort of) now. And I've stripped out most of the silly codes that the old article system used to insert, so things are getting closer. I'll try to upload a number of other articles tomorrow and set up the various categories properly. Getting there! |

Well, I've imported all of the articles now (all 225 of them), but I need to spend some time fixing them up and making sure they are in the correct categories etc. They're all a bit of a mess, but I'll fix that over the next few days. I'll make an announcement once it's done. After that, I'll start working on the rest of the upgrade. |

I had a go at placing them in the proper categories. Managed to do most of them, but not all. |

There's about 80 articles up now and the rest will be there before too long. Please don't pay too much attention to the layout or formatting of the articles because that will all change once I finish working on the site design. But if you see any problems with any articles, please make a post about it so we can go in and fix it up. Thanks. |

Yay!!! thanks so much for all your work, boss! I'm looking forward to using these spectacular articles very soon. EDIT: Daggy, I found a little coding problem in Tobold Hornblower's article on how to paint the HOTW legolas, underneath the picture of legolas from the movie, in the second paragraph. |
