Are all dice allowed or do you have to use GW dice? Yes I know this is the stupidest question you have ever heard.

Beacuse of the pips, dice with rounded edges roll more 1s and 6s. Thus, it's better to get the square dice that come in most board games (monopoly, risk etc.) or.. square dice in general. Casino dice are the best, but there is no such thing as a "fair" die, as the edges on casino dice will wear down after a few throws. Thats why casion dice have to be rotated every hour.

Anywho, if you can, get the square dice. If you can't, the gw dice are fine, provided you and your opponent are using the same dice.

No you don't need one per model, but it helps to have a bunch. 25-50 minimum.

Do I need any special dice or just the standard 6 sided?

Author:  Hellfury [ Thu May 13, 2010 3:20 am ]
Post subject:

You must have one 6 sided dice for each person in your army. When that model is removed from the table due to death, the die must be melted down as an example to the rest of the dice for the price of failure.

Only GW brand dice with the corresponding insignia for your army are allowed. Some armies dont have them yet and those armies are illegal to play until they do have their own dice. (Angmar for example are SOL).

I really hope people are intelligent enough to recognize that the only true statement in my post is that you only need 6 sided dice.

Are you BS'ing me? I looked on the GW site they dont have any dice beside the MORIA DICE.

Dude, he's having you on. But the humor is at GW's expense, mostly.

You're full of beans today HF. I just read a stroppy post from you over in the LotR thread at Warseer taking the [word deleted] out of someone else - "maths is teh hard!"

I guess that means dwarves are the only legal army you can play...

Nah, I am just yanking your chain. I was hoping you would have caught on or read the rest of my post that was barely concealed by white fonts:

Its there I promise you. White Tower of Ecthelion is right. its mostly at GW expense with only a slight ribbing towards you. No offense meant. Especially to a fellow South Padre Islander. Go J.P. Luby surf pier parties!

I guess I am. but then again another poster took what I said WAAAAY out of context as well. I am just sick of any dissenting opinions there being pi$$ed on because of the cult of personality present there. Its as if nobody elses opinions matter but their own. So I post in like regard to match their tone.

I dont go about pricking for no reason, but I will kick seven shades of $hit out of them and leave them searching the internet for better insults if they think I am just going to roll over and take it.

Warlord777: I don't think that SBG needs any other "special" dice. WotR can make use of a scatter die (from GW) if you have a Mumak, but otherwise, LotR games of either kind only need D6s.

EDIT: Forgot to mention: Hellfury, I managed to catch the white (good eyesight ;) ), but I was looking for it since I didn;t thinkt hat to be your real answer and the post was too long to have not had it in ;) Clever usage though :D

Oh yeah. The project log section of Warseer is worth the time, and that's about it. I try to limit my LotR posts there to short faculty responses to questions. Too many opinionated fools to bother with.

That's certainly not the case. Having rounded edges makes the length of time the dice is rolling different, that's all. There is still only a single 1 and a single 6 on each die and probability still works out the same. It's not like the edges on the die go "right, I'm rounded so I have to keep rolling until I feel a 6 next to me."

I lol'd. Why not 2s and 5s? They're on the opposite sides too

Because the 1/6 axis is the longest which forces those two results to happen more often on rounded edged dice, beacuse rounded edged dice roll longer and don't distrubute energy evenly as they roll. Good dice, stop rolling almost as soon as they hit the table.

also because the pips are drilled into the dice, the #1 side is the heaviest resulting in slightly more 6's. Seriously though, it really doesnt matter which dice u use as long as they're not rigged.
