So ive got an 800 point game coming up on saturday and im fighting a mordor army , with a very good chance of khamul being included and a troll.
I`d really appreciate some constructive criticism on what im proposing to field.
Aragorn 200 /3 might
Faramir 90 /4 might
Gimli 175 /4 might
1x Avenger bolt thrower
6x minas tirith warriors
4x minus tirith warrior with a banner bearer. this company will include all my epics
I was thinking of using my basic formation as cannon fodder really, let my opponent use up his magic and might on them. After which move my epic heros up into this formation and try and make the most of gimli and aragorns combo.
what you think ?? bad idea.

To be entirely honest, your army is pretty terrible. Three formations is far too little, and you've spent way too many points on Epic Heroes. Compare your army to this:

Aragorn - 200
Faramir - 90
Warriors of Minas Tirith, four companies - 100
Warriors of Minas Tirith, four companies - 100
Warriors of Minas Tirith, four companies - 100
Archers of Minas Tirith, three companies - 90
Knights of Minas Tirith, shields, four companies - 120

This army has two more formations, and eight more companies. You have far more tactical options available.

Too many points spent on hero's. Aragorn alone should be more than enough to deal with Khamul and the Troll.

As the others have stated, three Epics worth a excess of 400points is too many for this army size. Also your army list doesn't match your tactics. If you're going to sacrifice a formation, sacrifice the smaller one and leave what Epics you have in the larger formation. As well, wars of attrition with Khamul are not going to end well in your favor so avoid those tactics. That said, you need more formations or your flanks will be quickly exposed and destroyed by a rabble of Orcs. Good Luck.

Thanks guys, your reasoning certainly makes my proposed army look pretty dismal.I'll give your suggestion a try general elessar and let you know, thanks again.

agreed, too many epics, if I do a 750 point army I can usually get about 6 formations on the board.

General Elessar had a pretty good general idea of the way to go, Id even consider making my formations 3 companies, and a 2 company archer and use the extra 100 points elsewhere, maybe a couple bolt throwers.

I am assuming the army that you initially suggested is similar to the armies that you usually use. In that case, taking an army that is radically different (such as the one I suggested) will hopefully surprise your opponent. You may be able to take advantage of this.

Dear doc death,
i must agree with the other statements, your army is terrible. it would probably be best if you were to stay home saturday and avoid the epic defeat that my army is going to be serving you! ha.
