I'm playing a game tomorrow and wanted to field alot of cheap heros and models that I own without proxy. Gondor is my best made up army all painted and I'll be playing at a new hobby center in my area hopefully to attract more players but it pretty tough out here in BC. They just closed the GW store in Surrey, BC and that's never good news. Anyways onto my army

Epic Heros
Faramir (on Horse)
Isuldir (on Horse)
Eomer (lead WoMT)
The Elf Twins (flanking WoMT)

Common Formations

4c of WoMT
4c of WoMT
4c of WoMT
2c of MInas Tirith Archers
2c of MInas Tirith Archers
2c of MInas Tirith Archers
3c of Knights of Minas Tirith w/Shields
3c of Knights of Minas Tirith w/Shields

995 points, 8 Formations, 24 Companies, 5 Epic Heros, 12 Might

I'm not sure what I'm facing. My only worry is a Dragon or Mumak. I could take 2c of Bolt Throwers and remove 3c of WomT and 2 Archers incase I face Moria or Fallen Realms.

I like it, it's pretty similar to my 1000pts Gondor army. The one thing I would change would be to add another company to both cavalry formations, probably by dropping one of the archer formations.

yeah, for me 3 company Mounted units just get crushed, I like 4 or 5.

but very nice looking list

you go heavier with epics on 1000 then I do, I like 1 or 2 and then captains, and I just fought Harad with 750 points, one bolt thrower and they had a mumak, and with my 5 companies of knights led by Faramir and the bolt thrower it went well, lucky maybe but well.

love to hear how it goes.

Smaul, I've actually found the reverse with my Cav. They started to perform better (in my mixed lists) once they were in 3s and 4s rather than 5s and 6s. It is much easier to get the charges, room to advance, you want that way and the reality is that it is often still too risky to put an Epic in a unit of 5 cav anyway. I have had bigger units of cav work well but that was in an army designed having three large formations of them.

Cheers

Im a good player with infantry, so it might be lack of tactics on my part, but to date I have not seen them do very well with less than 4.

At least my Gondor, Rohan has some pretty good cavalry so they may be different.

Unfortunately we only played with Captains. It was a fun game but Gondor lost the war of attrition. Courage 4 across the board, I should have used Banners. Plus a Trebuchet would have been handy to draw them in.
