Very well, we'll start the core of the discussion from now onwards, for I'm going to share my War of the Silmarlils 2.0 scenario files. Please, have all of you remember this is a draft. A long draft, may be, and a good one, I really hope, but with still much to do. I worked upon it long time and after deep bibliographical research.The armies and general spirit of the game are based upon the Quenta Silmarillion overall, but of course upon the Narn-i-hin-Hùrin, as well as upon many other writings (the Book of Lost tales, Of Tuor and his Coming to Gondolin, and others). Armies, heroes ans special scenario rules are now to be discussed and playtested. I hope I may rely upon your help, at laeast as much you relied upon my efforts, for the stronger our sinergy, the better the final result - for the satisfaction of all of us. As the argument is very large and complex, it will be splitted in more than one topic: - in a first topic we'll discuss only about the specific scenario rules; - a second topic will treat the Forces of Light; - a third one will treat the Forces of Shadow; - further topics will be opened later to discuss optional rules, battle scenarios and other. Topics will be named: "War of the Silmarils - Topic #" I give a special thank to Gimli52, who helped me very much into developing this 2.0 draft. Here you'll find the scenario specific rules for downloading: http://www.mediafire.com/file/86rsrtt8n ... es_3.1.pdf I made the choice of not changing WotR core rules by now: what you'll find in the file applies only to WotS units and doesn't touch the game system. I think it is better to have a solid and certain starting point - that's WotR as it is - to build up a Scenario, and only once this latter is consolidated to propose and discuss eventual changes to the game itself. Also, you will notice that many original Special Rules and Epic Actions of WotR do not appear in the file. This is due to two reasons: - I found not all of these to fit well with Silmarillion; - I wished to have not this Scenario becoming too colmplex - total special rules and epic actions (old + new) are here a lot less than in WotR and, moreover, there are now really few that apply but to the odd unit or two. |

Version 2.1 released - link replaced in Post #1. Not many changes, here. Just a new rule for Bombadil, who was not present in the previous issue, and the old Master of Blades special rule, here for the Dark Elf assassins. All changes have been evidenced in yallow. |

ERRATA CORRIGE Pag. 15 – Epic Crippling Change: ”On a 2 to 5, the Hero or Monster suffers D6-3 automatic hits (to a minimum of 1R). On a roll of 6, the Hero or Monster instead suffers D6-2 automatic hits (to a minimum of 1R).” with: ”On a 2 to 5, the Hero or Monster has his Resilience reduced by 1 for the reminder of the turn. On a roll of 6, the Hero or Monster instead has his Resilience reduced to 1 for the reminder of the turn (if it was already 1, then it is either removed from play or diced on the Hard to Die! or the like table, as applicable).” Pag. 31 – Rodothlim Guards One to five companies. Pag. 34 – Noldor Knights Common formation. Pag. 36 - Noldor Artillery Balista, not Trebuchet. Pag. 81 – Noble Knights Army Banner the Banner Bearer may be upgraded for + 30 points. pag. 90 – Tumunzahar Phalanx Army Banner the Banner Bearer may be upgraded for + 30 points. pag. 93 – Standard Units Add: "Unique Units Common for All Realms: not extended to the present realm." pag. 94 – Nibbinog Medium Infantry Defence = 4 (6); Attacks = 8. Pag. 125 – Captain in the West Army Banner Banner Bearers may be upgraded for + 30 points.
