A tough choice, with all these wonderful entries.
In the end it was between dezartfox's and Islestaggerholm's.
So I voted for Islestaggerholm's as it had everything I was looking for, but I have to say, if Dezartfox had done come op with a bit more for the base I would have chosen that one.

Now let's build a Sauron worthy of mordor  .

Super hard choice but after much deliberation I narrowed it down between dezartfox and tomogui. I ultimately went with Tomogui due to basing and his re-working of details after his orignal postings. It shows the true spirit of these contests in that he painted something to a standard he was accostomed then came on and saw what was going on here and stepped it up again. Nice job.

Lots of good entries!

And from the comments, I need to improve my basing! I will admit it is a weakness of mine ;)

wow, so so so SO many to choose from...

Great stripes on the axe Wah Wing
Lovely shading on Gimli's equipment Bastion.HUN
Kevin from Mitril you have painted some great detail on the cloak
Valpas you have some excellent looking leather
Bilbo of the white tower your base looks brilliant

IsleStaggerholm you get my 2nd place, Amazing entry! I love Gimli's cloak, hair and base, the added smoke way also a nice touch.
Dead Marsh Spectre you get my vote I think, the amount of effort put into the base and the neatness of gimli's eyes do it for me I think and just very neat painting all over, especially the helmet.

Probably the closest yet! :legolas:

Well, it's not that bad my camera was dead anyway, as I'd have stood no chance here. I really couldn't choose, so in the end I went (in an impulse) for Wah Wing. A very, very well painted Gimli indeed, with lots of character in it.

Amazing works, well done everyone.
I know, I have to choose one, but these are my favorites: Chris, Bilbo., Valpas, Werner, IsleS., Kevin, Dead Marsh and Tomogui. My chosen: Kevin :yay:

There are a lot of good entries, but DMS had it for me with that epic base and flawlessly painted miniature. In fact, I'm really surprised that IsleStaggerholm has such a massive lead, with all the other great options. Also, Dezartfox, its nice to see that model with such an impressive paint job! Games Workshop's paint job for the Death of Gothmog is quite lackluster in my opinion. :)

Its still very early . . . I think others are accustomed to DMS blowing away the competition that its almost become ubiquitous--I think there is little doubt that if his entry and mine were in a Golden Demon together my Gimili would get little consideration.

Tough decisions and many excellent models! I decided to go with Bilbo's Balin.
The dark colour scheme suits the model well and matches my own painting style. Sort of.
