After having bought the Assault on Black Reach set I have began work on a Salamanders Space Marine army, starting with my Captain. Here he is so far:

Sorry about the lighting getting in the way on most of the pictures. Hopefully the next set of pics I take will be in better lighting.

Comments and Criticism welcome!

Thanks,
Jake.

I'll be watching this with interest mate! I'm also planning on getting the AoBR set. Been scouring the web for some references too. I recommend you check these lads out, they're great!

Looking good so far mate! I too will be watching with interest as I am getting the AoBR box set for my Angels of Redemption army.

I think this AoBR is one of the best things to hit the 40k scene in a long time and with 5th edition out now they just work really nicely together.

Not many people tend to know what AoR look like so here is my site if you are interested. It is in development and needs much more work.

Good luck,

KJ Necromancer

Thanks for the links guys. I might have to join up to one of those 40K sites now that I'm finally starting to paint my 40K (don't worry, it won't stop me from being here :) ). The Angels of Redemption necrotales on Kj Necromancers site looks great! Thanks for that also.

Salamanders have always been my favourite due to Chaplain Xavier. And if you ask because you've seen a lot of people start Salamanders recently then most are starting up Salamanders because in the New Space Marines Codex they have one really Hard Chapter Master and some nice new Army Special Rules.

A little aside the Salamanders:

Finished Painting Varghulf for a friend of mine today and thought I'd share the results with you all. I've been working on it (or rather not working on it) for months now so It's about time it was finished!

 As is always the way. Great job on him mate, this is one of the finest works I've seen from you, the wing details are a nice touch. Is he some sort of mutant vampire? You definitely can be very proud of him, you have one lucky S-O-A-B friend :)

That explains the overly hairy nostrils then...

The concept for the Varghulf is a giant Wolf/Bat/Sloth hybrid.

It is supposed to represent a Vampire who has given himself over to his bestial desires, rather than retaining the last fleeting vestiges of his former humanity, and pretty much embodies the old Strigoi Bloodline Vampires.

Funnily enough, I've just been tinkering about with a VC army list, with as many Vamps as possible in it, and wasn't sure about having 1 or 2 of these beasties in it. The lure of the Blood Knights is pretty strong.

Nice paint job mate, really like the fleshy wings (can't believe the model can't fly) although you need to blackline between the teeth.

Nicely done on Varghulf!
It makes me want to get mine out and start my Gulavhar conversion.

Sorry for those wanting to see Salamanders but again... aside from the Salamanders I have been painting the Assault on Black Reach Ork Warboss and so far painted his head (note I did use one of the Ork Nobz heads as an alternate to the warboss Head).

C and C welcome as always.

Thanks!

The pic is dark but it looks good so far, I think you should take the metalsup a bit more especially around the scratches.

Thanks Tim. I have taken in mind your advice and changed the Iron Jaw (although in these following pics it doesn't look much different s=due to the angle of the lighting). More updates (Power Klaw isn't finished):

I reckon some weathering on that power cable wouldnt go amiss. Wouldn't make sense if the powerklaw is wonderfully grubby as it is and then its broken up by a classy looking cable :P

hurry up and finish the lad jack! I'll be priming my Termy soon so watch out
