Whoops haven't updated this for a while, but for a justified reason! No piccy's this time unfortunately, as I need a little advice. In the previous update I had recently started on my orc captain. However now I'm really stumped as to what flesh tones I should give him. I've already painted the cloth areas with a Shadow-Grey mix, and have pretty much finished that stage, but this skin is just sending me insane!

Does anyone have some good suggestions?

Hey again guys, time for another update. Some more progress has been made on the last elf spearman, and I've started on an Uruk Captain. I've got some Orcs and Wargs aimed for completion next, so I'll update you as soon as I can get to them.

Uni is such a bother sometimes. Not only that, but the Brisbane bus system is pants

The Elf looks good and so does the orcs flesh. However the Uruk isn't that great a picture, but from what I can make out, it does look very good so far :)

Good work and looking forward to more updates :)

It's hard to tell anything aobut those minis due to size of picture mate. All I can argue is that Elf looks great ;) Very Interesting colour scheme. (so many WE here on O-R and I haven't seen any standard GW scheme so far  )

The painting looks very clean and neat.

So the public transport system in Brisbane consists of large pieces of underwear? Well, I never...

All 3 look very nice so far, I especially like how smooth the painting looks. Looking forward to seeing progress or seeing them completed.

Thanks for all the comments guys, it's really helping me continue to slap paint or more and more mini's :D I've started on some rangers and wargs, as I've finished two orcs and beginning the final stages of basing the Uruk Captain and the WE Spearman.

I used Keyzer's guide for Uruk's in order the flesh on the captain although I'm worried that the final wash may have removed the contrast of the final highlight (in this case Dark Flesh) from the flesh. So I'm looking for any criticisms on that aspect of the mini. Anything to further my knowledge!

I'll try and get some pics outside in the next update.
Anyways onto the pic's.

Great :DVery smooth painting. Though armour of an Orc Bowmen is a bit messed up :/ Maybe wash it with ink and add 2 different layers of slilver.
Other than that, sweet ;)

The warg's coat may need some more depth. It's hard to explain in writing so, have a look at these:

and especially this one -

Great work mate, Just a couple of things.

In the photo its hard to make it out but im not sure the wargs have enough depth in their fur, maybe add afew more highlights to it. As I said it's a little hard to tell in the photo so dont be to worried about it.

The orc bowmens silver armour may need a wash of Chaos Black, from what I can tell it looks as if some of the silver paint has seeped into the cracks of the armour.

Otherwise it is great work! I especially like the Uruk Captain, he looks ace!

Great work Haldir Strikes!

Love the Uruks skin tone and armour. The orcs are looking brilliant but I agree the warg could do with a little more depth in the fur coating.

Other than that, brilliant work!

Thanks for the comments once again guys. I wasn't able to touch the wargs today as just as I hit up the painting station to have a long hard look at them, the gf whisked me off to go watch a movie instead

However, I have managed to get some other stuff done instead. I've started on two more Rangers and I've done a little more work on the Orc Captain.

The lighting seems to have washed out the highlighting on the rangers cloak in the second pic. I may have to change where I'm taking these pic's

Even if it's lightning fault add one or two more layers (and to the trousers too). I'm not a fan of contrast paintig (which ca be easily spotted i my works0 but these are models, that look great whe the have one or two part of mini highlighted harder.

The rest looks great. Nice mettalics ;)

Nice painting.
My only critism would be the base of the Uruk captain.

But apart from that, great.

Thanks for the comments once again guys :)
I've been pretty busy with uni and the girlfriend, so unfortunately I haven't been able to update much. I've started on some Rohirrim and I'm starting the next stages of the Rangers that are currently WiP.

Todays update consists of a completed Uruk, the last unarmoured wood elf (hooray!) and a warrior of Rohan I painted up mainly because I was getting sick of everything else.

Very nice mate. Smooth as always. I would just add some depth by either adding 2-3 hghlights or some shades. Especially at Rohirrim's cloak and Elf's face. The rest looks great.

@victor: Yeah, I'll definatey take into account your advice mate. I've started to notice that my mini's are missing that "pop" factor that is attributed to the highlights. TBH I'm a little afraid that I might overdo the highlights if you know what I mean.

There may be another update sometime today, although I'm not totally sure yet - its very dependent on how much time I have before I hit the valley with some friends.

Cheers

Don't worry. If you keep god technique it's hard to overdo highlights - it will look great either way. PLus minis with srtrong, ontrast highlight look great on pics. Thoug a bit weird live ;) I prefer melow higlighting with only a bit of crazy cotrast higlighting ;) Check my Elves of Elf Ranger in my gallery and you'll know what I mean.

Hey guys, just a quick update before I start working on more uni assignments(never ending I swear...). Worked a bit more on applying more layers of highlights with this ranger, hopefully it shows through on the pics. This guys almost done, which means that I can work on the next one pretty soon.

The whole mini looks great, but considering that is a plastic mini the face is brilliant! That's a great effect you gained there when painting the face, it looks very realistic so well done indeed!
