Looking quite good. However when I painted Éomer, I drybrushed his chainmail armour first because of the risk of the paint flakes getting on to other areas.

In my article on TLA I attempted to achieve movie-accurate shades and tones, so check it out if you want (however in hindsight I dislike the way I painted the eyes)

Thanks CC, seen that article and it is very good :) . Lovely results too, I like the eyes to be honest, suit him very well.

Anyway, Being at GW most of today with a freind of mine I got a fair bit on this guy done. Unfortunately the picture qaulity isn't great so It'll be better next time, I promise :)

Comments and Criticism welcome, I am fairly happy with how it's coming along so far.

Thanks,

Jake.

That is looking ace mate, I think you could improve it a little more by adding another highlight stage to the cheekbones, also the hair would go another stage lighter.
The scale mail at the bottom of the skirt there could do with a bit more definition to it. But like I said over on Wom you are getting better and better.

Thanks Tim. I think I will do exactly as you said tomorrow or maybe even later tonight if I get the chance, I was thinking of going an extra stage on the Scalemail anyways :)

Thanks for your advice :)

You'll be glad to know I have a better picture this time

Anyway, last night was spent on basically painting a little of the helmet up and making some little adjustments to the hair, fave and Scalemail. The hair didn't turn out as I expected it so I might adjust it again at a later date.

Here is a picture at the back of him so you can see the newly painted section of the helmet (just the hair of it):

looking good, although the red armour looks like it could do with an extra highlight on the very edges. Everything looks great so far.

btw, where did you get that great looking base from?

Thanks :)

The base is from Shelob from Chess Set 2 from the lotr-chess set collection Magazine. Basically I just took Shelob off and filled in any holes with Milliput.

I think the hair looks fine mate and I wouldn't mess with it any more. One thing yo might consider if you have a very fine brush something like a 4/0 then you might want to consider very carefully painting dark lining around the the scale plates on the scale mail, you will need to keep the paint very thin, if you are confident enough you could do it with black ink or the new black wash but you need to make sure that you haven't got too much on your brush otherwise it will just flood the whole area.
I think though that with a little care you should be able to manage it very well.

Well last night was a long night of painting in order to get Eomer done for today and at 2:30am I finally finished him.

I know some people dislike the base for obvious reasons but I'm not going to change it

Here he is:

Nicely done, but why the big base? Won't this affect game play?

I love the base on Eomer, Or rather the base that Eomer is on! :D

The Assassin is great, the best painted version I have seen yet.

Keep up the good work!

Looking good Jake, loved the subdued metals however, and this is rich coming from me - you need to thin down the paint on the rim of the base, it's a bit thick and the brush strokes are showing.

Why the 40mm base?

Planning on adding something?

The Harasharii looks very good. I like the off-center stance on the base.
