Brilliant, Master Balrog! The door bell is a real gem.

Just like to say, because of my recent absence and lack of hobbying, when I posted my last update, I never noticed Alans backdoor entrance (Oooh matron)

Astonishing Alan...each piece you do with this project I think is your best to date, then you post another one...superb mate !!!

No-one could be more anal than you to post a picture of Bilbos back entrance

Anal is, after all, an anagram of Alan.

But I haven't gone to the depths of obsession that you have Brian - that front door is a masterpiece - the bell and chain is brilliant and shows up so beautifully even under extreme magnification in that photograph. Remember everyone - that piece is only about 3cm tall.

Now, now! no anagrammatical insults to spoil the terrain ecstasy!

Besides, Brian's forum name has much, much worse anagrams...

Fantastic work on that entrance Brian, it's looking incredible in the photo. So difficult to pick a favourite at this stage however hoping to see more progress from the pair of you soon

In fact a lot happened in the last month... only not with the Bag End-models I guess, but after all we got a new web-layout and a storm on dice-orders which have taken (and still take) many time of both artists ;)

Yep, Bart is right. My spare time has been almost totally occupied with web page coding and filling dice orders over the last month and so I've not been able to spend much time on other projects (such as the To9G, Bag End, and some other things I have on the workbench).

But having said that, I did finish off the big tree that sits atop The Hill.

Well, I guess this is a good enough timeas any to tell you all what has happened with my side of things.

I could make this into a very long explanation of what exactly happened, but I dont want to bore you.

I have been putting this off for over 2 weeks now, but it just came out by chance in the Admin Forum, so...

3 of my main pieces which had been redone and not posted up were unfortunately stepped on and totally destroyed by the love of my life (no not Alan).

Its been a very stressful time as my hobby time has been greatly reduce of late, but C'est la Vie, I have started anew (again) but really struggling with motivation at the moment.

This thread ... aint dead (I'm a poet...and dont know it), I will continue, see you all in 24 month when i finally get round to it.

I love it when a plan falls into place! Remind me to send a Thank You card to Justine (it's the only way I can win this competition).

Actually, when you first told me about this I was so shocked and upset it took me ages to reply - I really didn't know what to say and genuinely had a lump in my throat about it all. I know it was an accident and that Justine was deeply upset by it. I hope you can find the inspiration to start again though - this has been one of the most enjoyable challenges we've done together!

(Dorth scribbles note to self - never leave anything where anyone can sit, stand, puke, fall on or eat it). :-X
So will this be Bag End: The Next Generation?

Sorry to hear that Brian, I would be peeved if anyone damaged any of my stuff (except me, then I would just laugh a little, and perhaps cry later :( )

I would hope now that Justine is your right-hand-woman, doing all those tedious jobs for you or at the very least bringing you copius amounts of tea! 8)

You know, we all like frequent updates and that... but this is taking the concept 'breaking news' a bit too far!

I bet Justine realised just how smashing the model was looking and decided to ellaborate a bit on the concept.

This is terrible news. A lot of effort, time and dedication is put in these little pieces and when something like this happens is always very, very tough.
I'm sure you'll find your motivation again and re-do whatever needs to be re-done. In the end we'll all agree that this sad event was no more than another step towards a perfect Bag End... maybe a bit too literal and painfull... but a step forward nontheless.

Man, that bites.

Although it is spurring me into action regarding fitting a lock to the games room door, as Nikki can now reach the handle...

Hopefully, you'll find the energy to continue, and when it's done, I'll have something to show the grandkids.
