i want to create rules for denethor that reflect him the way he was before he was currupted by the palatir.

i was thinking of something like this:

points: 95

F S D A W C M/W/F
6/- 4 4 3 3 5 3/3/0

special rules:
steward of gondor: 28cm stand fast!
palantir: same as for saruman

wargear:
a sword

for addional cost he may be equipt with the following items:
armour 5pt
h.armour 10pt
shield 5pt

the lotr point cost calculator said 95 points.

comments are appreciated!

I think Denethor should start with armor and then you could upgrade to heavy. Other than that I think he is great and maybe I will use them my self. I always wanted to use Denethor, but he actually Sucks with the broken mind rule.

Where did you find a lotr point cost calculator?

Hmm.. I'd quite like having a Denethor before that.. but just a thought.. why does he have 0 fate if he hasn't been corrupted yet, and possibly still has a chance to live?

How about this, as I'm not too sure on him being as good swordsman as Boromir.

points: 110

F S D A W C M/W/F
5/- 4 5 3 3 6 3/3/3

special rules:
The Steward of Gondor:
Denethor is the current Steward of Gondor, and therefore people look up to him. His standfast! is 28cm.

Wargear:
Denethor is armed with a finely balanced sword and leather armour.

for additional cost he may be equiped with the following items:

Heavy Armour - 5 points
Shield - 5 points

EDIT: Fixed defence value.

also, you gave him a defence short. with normal armour he should have 5 defence.

How about basing him on Arathorn? There was no way he was close to Aragorn, if you read the LotR Appendices, Aragorn served in Gondor under the name Thorongil, and Denethor was very jealous of the attention he got. He was always a bit crazy, and his people had no special love for him, so no great standfast. He definitely loved his armour, he never took it off.

80 points
F S D A W C M/W/F
5/- 4 6 3 2 5 3/2/2

Wargear: sword and heavy armour
He can also have the following at additional cost:
Shield - 5 points
Horse - 10 points
Lance - 5 points
Armoured Horse - 15 points

Special: Jealousy: Denethor is jealous of the attention any other hero might get. He will never participate in another hero's heroic actions.

I think Whafrog's interpretation is good! He's a solid Hero now, I'd take him if GW made rules like these for a younger Denethor.

I believe that is the adopted son from the Unfinished Tales. :)
