Thanks Josh!

I'll consider adding a little rust. Some watered down Vermin Brown washed into the recesses should suffice nicely I think.

I'm now working on the metals of the banner-bearer. I'll probably have an update later today for you all. :)

I really like this wip because you update it so regularly. I like the metals, they're looking good. I look forward to the banner bearer.

Thank you both very much for the comments! I always enjoy hearing everyone's opinions. :)

I finished the armor on both the captain and the banner-bearer. They're not quite as good as the shaman in my opinion, but I'm still fairly pleased with them.

C&C welcome. :)

Thanks! :)

I've been on fire today! I painted the black cloak on the shaman. Sadly the photo doesn't show the highlights very well, as I worked it all the way up from Chaos Black to Fortress Grey. Hopefully later pics will better show the highlights.

The armour is looking awesome, though I can't really tell anything on the cloak...to me it looks like a very deep shade of green. I'll keep an eye out for more pics! :)

Looking good. My only criticism is of your photography  Just ribbing you, but your pics are quite dark and make it difficult to see the darker colors you're painting.

Yes, photography is definitley one aea I need to improve on. I've been having trouble finding a decent area to take pictures that has adaquet lighting. I'll probably end up looking for a natural white light bulb, which should prove helpful. :)

Lord of the Rings figures can often be quite dark and murky when finished, so that applies even moreso when figures are in the WIP stage.

For rust, or dirty metals there are a few ways I do it, depending on the effect. Pure orange paint, dilluted into a wash with a surface tension breaker (or windex) works well on some figures. You can also use Future Floow Wax or it's local equivalent to give an even more extreme look.

For my Mordor Orcs, I've been using a mix of Vallejo's Smokey Brown ink mixed with a few drops of Windsor & Newton and Devlan mud. You could just as easily use windex or water though to dillute it, as that particular Vallejo ink has a really dense and strong pigment, and leaves you with a very brown metallic finish which looks perfect for orcs.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend you immediately do it to your Morannon commanders, but it may well be worthwhile for you to get some of this ink and give it a trial on a semi-spare plastic orc or something, and see if you like the effect. Then you can apply to taste.

Thanks for the comments guys! :)

I finished all of the areas of black cloth on the models this morning, including the banner. It turned out nicely I think, though certainly nothing spectacular.

I'll be working on the areas of red cloth next, so I'll try to take your guys previous advice given on that area to heart. I have just one small problem. I can't decide whether or not to paint the design on the banner red or white. Nearly everyone uses white, so red is more unique on this model. However, I'm just not sure. Any thoughts? :)

Also, sorry for the bad picture. My camera was low on batery and was acting a little strange, it ended up dying right after I took the picture. I was also trying to take a picture of the back, where the black cloth is more visible, but the camera died before I could. I was also inteding to take a few closeups. I'll be sure to post up some more pictures as soon as my camera is finished charging. :)

I'm liking what I am seeing!! :)
When I think Mordor I think black and red...Isengard is white/black in my mind. Go red.

Looks great, very subtle yet still visible.

My vote goes for white....just seems to me it would stand out a bit more. Though if you want to go unique, I think a nice lavender with vermillion bordering would look ace 8) Or, if not, turqoise with pink!

I vote for red, it just fits with mordor a lot better than white in my opinion.
The black areas look pretty good, keep it up.

Thanks for all of the comments guys!

I've decided to go with the red, as I agree that it much better represents Mordor. I've not finished painting it, but so far it's coming along nicely. Thanks for the input guys! :)

Hey guys! Sorry it's been so long between updates, I've not done much painting of late, having been occupied with other things. The red cloth on all three of the commanders is now done though!
