I just got here today and what do I see? I thread about old people. Makes me feel good. I'm 49. Started gaming in 1976. Started tournament gaming in 1988 with WRG 6th. I'm tired of GW fantasy & 40k. Just found WoTR and love the rules.

Right on brother! I started in 1977 with WWII micro armor. Feel the same about WFB and WotR. But I have some renewed hope for WFB based on the 8th Ed rumors.

I'm 15, a couple of months off 16, and have been collecting SBG for about 6 years, perhaps a little bit more or a little less. However, I've only been gaming (at least by the proper rules) for about 3 years.

My main SBG opponent turned 30 a few weeks ago....

I'm 15, been collecting and gaming for 6 years (I know, I started young!). It doesn't matter what age you are, as long you can play!

Edit: Don't even know what age I am, had to change it! :o

I just turned 15 a few weeks ago. My brother's Twelve. Both been playing the game since two/three years ago. Well, not necersarilly LotR, but GW stuff.

I'm more intrested in the fluff (WH40K) rather than the gaming, he's intrested in the gaming rather than the fluff. :o

Well hey, if it keeps you happy during these years instead of you being unhappy and annoying just about everyone close to you, then who gives a rat's...? (sorry) Its good that you've stuck at it for this long. :)

I'm 13, just started with no grasp of the actual rules and no money for any paints, tools, any sourcebooks or the rulebook!

the only downside of wargaming young is the financial side of it, but if you have the cash, then your age doesn't matter!

I'm 26, started with GW WHFB & Lotr since I was 21. Way before that I played and painted miniatures with my two older brothers when I was a kid. It was a Milton Bradley/Games Wokrshop game called Battle Masters where you have two armies Empire vs Orcs/Gobs/Beastmen/Chaos. Threw the game in the garbage recently because I moved, was sad about it but had to let go, no space for that.

For me it's not that I'm painting and playing miniatures that has family and friends frowning upon me, it's the fact that I'm spending so much money on this expensive hobby that has them frowning.

I'm also 47. I was playing LOTR (with our own rules) back in '79 ish, and the earliest dated figures I have are 1979. A friend and I got a lift to London to go to the first GW shop (in Hammersmith) in 1978 or 79, but we were only buying ones and twos to go into our D&D games (money didn't go too far in those days).

My 8-year-old son found my old figures in the loft recently (can't think what got him to look in the right box..), which sparked his interest, and got me painting again. I haven't got to grips with the GW rules yet, but I enjoy painting the figures and assembling armies more than the wargaming. Everything that was dinned into me about 'winning the reconnaisance battle' and 'selection and maintenance of the aim', etc., will go by the board when someone uses magic against me
