So i've been playing SBG for about a week now and painted my tiny tiny army and all that. I understand the phases and battle and everything, but i cant seem to find any rulebooks, the only reason i know the stats of my guys is because a friend who does have the book told me, but we dont live close enough for it to be productive for me to go and see him about it. What do all the stats mean on the chart for each piece? How does fight value factor into the game? Can i just fire volleys at the enemy captains till it dies? I just have alot of questions and not alot of money.

It's a bit pointless asking a ton of questions as it would be impossible and illegal to supply the answers, you really do need to buy the main rulebook, ebay generally has them pretty cheap. Take a look on GW's website there is or used to be guides on how to play.

it would be illagal to tell you all the rules but we can throw you a bone if you dont understand.

When in the combat phase both players have to roll a dice each to determine the winner of the battle (or winners)
the highest scoring dice is the winner. However, sometimes you get a tie, and so the model with the highest fight value automatically becomes the winner.
If you cant afford the rulebook from games workshop then you can always look for independant retailers who sell GW items slightly cheaper, or look on ebay.
Personaly I have the little mini rulebook from the Mines of Moria starter set.
