Post subject: Gondor shields - the backs?

How do you paint the back of shields for Gondor warriors? A wood plank effect, or are these meant to be solid metal shields?

depends on how much is visible...if theres a lot I do planking, but leaving it black ( since your not going to see it from birds eye anyway) is usually acceptable. I know guys that dont even bother painting the undersides of their horses.

Leave it black or paint wooden planks on.
Solid metal shields are way too heavy, and are pretty useless unless you want your arm stunned when they hit the shield.
