Ok i have seen alot of custom heroes on this sight and i have been inspired to bolster my boring old generic heroes. But am intrigued as to what system you use to calculate the points value. I have concocted my own little system based off battle companies, here they are:

Basic cost of the model
Extra wound or attack (no more than three of each) +10pts
Each extra point of strength/defence/fight value/courage +5pts
Extra point of M/W/F +5points
Each special rule +10pts
Staff of power: +15pts
spells: +5pts (are cast on the highest roll required by a ringwraith/wizard/shaman/stormcaller)
limitations: 1 spell allowed per point of will (staff of power counts as two points of will)

I have concocted some heroes via this layout.

Hrothgar: Dwarf king with master of battle and an extra might point: 90 points
Scruggs: uruk hai shaman with staff of power and an extra attack: 75 points
Budmund: cave troll with two might and two fate: 100 points

Would you say the above heroes are fairly valued? If you often create heroes, am i thinking along the right lines or is this system too expensive or too cheap?

You could try looking for a hero generator im certain i've seen someone with a link to one.

Only thing i would say to the original post is that spells should be only +5pts for spells like Transfix and Panic Steed, the ones that are only basic ones, with Compel and Renew being +10pts.

That and the Staff of Power should be a Special Rule and they should all cost +15pts. Extra special wargear like Anduril like weapons should cost the same as the original (so +20pts to take Durin's Axe etc).

But that is how i run my custom heroes, lead to lots of special Dunedain with Deadly Shot after seeing the older Sentinel rules.
