Is this oath about lotr only ? Because my 40k army is lacking points... And awesome units... And my WoC army has tasted neither blood or paint yet.

@Dagorlad: Glad to see that you've caught the bug again. I have been getting back to my former levels of painting production and it feels good to see those unpainted minis become painted ones. One thing I've done to motivate myself is at I cleared off a couple bookshelves and set out my unpainted minis so that I can look at them and plot how to complete them all. It's too easy to forget what you have when they're all stashed away in drawers and figure cases.

@Raggbur: I intended the oath to refer to my LotR backlog (although I'm doing a similar thing with my 40K stuff), but if you want to include other ranges, I don't see why you couldn't!

Today I bought VGC stonewall grey and skull white, a brush, some metal galadhrim, and a pack of milliput (interesting stuff). :D Woohoo! and at the end of this week I can be rid of this silly school 'Research project' forever! yay. :)

Now I will get more time for other stuff, like painting 8)
Oh, yeah, and I painted ten dwarf warriors.....

I swear this oath. I intend to tidy my room up some more so that I can paint.

Since I took the oath I have:

* Painted nothing
* Bought nothing

So far so good :wink:. I should hopefully start painting some of my Gondor forces over the next few weeks now that I am no longer on holiday. I will also try and take part in the painting challenge so hopefully these will up my non existent tally of painted minis.

@Dead Marsh Spectre: Excellent progress! May the sun shine warm upon your face, and your backlog continue shrinking...

@Whiskas: Welcome aboard. Tidying my workspace always helps me find some half-completed project that I can finish up.

@Red Corsairs: Well, no progress is better than going backwards...I guess :{

Haha, it's not so much tidying the workspace, more like tidying the floor so that I can get to it!

I will take part! Even though it is so small I doubt you could even call it a backlog!
16 warriors of Minas Tirith - basecoated
24 Warriors of Rohan - in process of conversions. This is my sisters army but I'm going to be teaching her to paint soon and helping with these.
Boromir- barely started
Aragorn- unprimed
Gimli- unprimed
2 or 3 Moria Goblins- varying stages of completeness

How much are heroes worth? If it's already been mentioned don't worry I'll just look over the thread again to find it!

Drake

I wish my backlog was as manageable as yours Draked!

I am having to split it into armies in order to cope with it. I am focusing on Rohan first and went through all of my model boxes, draws and display cases to find everything to do with the Horse Lords - I have 98 models for this army and so far, 5 are fully painted! :oops:

I have a bit of work to do I think.

I'm doing the same as you Alan, splitting the collection up into different armies. Although for some reason I chose to do the largest army first. I've painted 1 model (3 in total but the other 2 were last year) and it's already a tad overwhelming :P

@Jonathan - What are the rules on trades? Do we ignore them if an equal amount of minis is being sent both ways but take them into account if we gain more minis than we already had? Sorry if it's been mentioned previously, just thought I'd ask.

I found a few more Rohirrim, including some of EBob's dead guys, so my backlog has gone up to 110. And oddly enough, I found a copy of Lurtz that I had painted a couple of years ago and forgot about - the same model I'm finishing off for this month's challenge. I guess my son is going to get a nicely painted Uruk-hai for his collection, since I seem to have two.

Ah yet to be honest I envy your backlogs! I always think "wow! That must be awesome" when people say they found another model. It must be so exciting to suddenly have more :)

I wouldn't worry about trades as you're usually trading equal amounts worth of minis, whether or not the net number of miniatures goes up or not. Also, with trades it's usually a pretty small window of opportunity. As long as you're not trying to game the system... :)

I've ones taken a break from the hobby, and when I started again, I realised almost 1/6 of my morannons (personal favourites) were gone. Now, about 3 years later, I met one of my old friends at a gw, just starting 40k. He told me he didn't need the Lotr orcs I gave him. And yes, my morannons were back to normal.

But about the Backlog Oath, I'll gladly participate, but for lotr only (first see if I can manage that)!
However, I'd like to know wheither conversion project also count ? Halve the minis I have left to paint are in an early stage of being converted.

I thought so, just thought it best to check as I have just redone my Trading thread as I'm after some new minis :)

Well I purchased a couple models today.
Uruk-Hai Command

I've completed:
Boromir
3 Moria Goblins
And I completed Legolas last week

I'm not sure If that quite equals out but I think it does! I couldn't help myself on today's purchases because I've recently realized how bad I want an Isengard Army. I may even begin to play WotR soon!

You're pretty close... The goal is to paint two minis for every one you purchase. That way you still get to purchase new minis occasionally, but hopefully your backlog of unpainted figures will dwindle away to nothing.

I usually count cavalry models for two infantry, larger models could count for even more depending on how involved they are.

You painted 5 infantry and bought 3. You should have painted one more to be on par. I guess we'll let you slide on this one since you didn't completely understand the challenge!
