The way I think we should judge whether a miniature is a monster or not is by using the Games Workshop website. If the miniature is listed in the 'Monsters' section of the online shop, it is eligible. If it is not, it is not eligible. This way it doesn't matter if somebody doesn't have a rulebook to check whether they are monsters or not, because everybody can simply check the website. This is an example of the sections of the GW website I am referring to: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... GameStyle= (in the cases of Isengard etc. where there is a 'Monsters and Warmachines' section instead, the ones that are obviously Warmachines will NOT be eligible such as the Siege Ballistae, Battering Rams, Catapults etc. - although the loading troll for the Mordor Catapult would still be eligible.)

Good idea. 8)

I don't because some obvious monsters like fell beasts aren't classed as monsters.

I didn't notice that. That's because they've put them in Heroes and Command, but I've looked through and the only ones not in the Monsters sections that should 'Definitely' be are the Fellbeasts and Sauron. So... everything I said in my previous post still applies as well as Sauron and Fellbeasts being eligible? Any better?

Ehhh, I'd still stick to the original plan with the GW listing of monsters (there are plenty of models to choose from in those sections)...the fell beasts are mounts (monstrous ones, but mounts) and Sauron is just a big wraith in a sense...if we let these in, then we need to start letting in bat swarms, shades, spiders, etc.

Good point, we want to keep it simple in terms of what's acceptable and what's not, that'd just make it too complex.

I still think a fell beast should be a monster (and if someone didn't play SBG they wouldn't know what a monstrous mount is, but GW define a monstrous mount as a monster anyway)

It makes sense for fell beasts to be monsters, as for Sauron though may not be man or elf, dwarf or hobbit he is no monster.

How about anything with Strength 6 or higher (in SBG) counts as a monster?

That would again cause a problem for those who are only in the hobby for painting aspect of things and don't own the rulebook.

Personally I see no problem in sticking to the original plan and JUST allowing Fellbeasts to slip the net as well?

Also the Mordor Chieftain moved from monsters to heroes since its change to finecast, is this no longer allowed?

This IS also allowed. I noticed that was in heroes earlier but forgot to mention it. There is no questioning allowing this as it's a troll and clearly a monster.

Nope. A Warg is not a monster. An Orc Warlord, not a monster.

If monster wins, can I use a Warhammer model that will "count as" one of my LotR monsters? I purchased a Varghulf that I will be using as my Gulavhar in my Angmar army.

Sounds good...I'll start assembly and then sit on him to see where monsters finish in the poll...if it wins then that will be my targeted model next month (if not I have a dwarf command unit all picked out and ready to go). Now, so much conversion work, cleaning, green stuffing to do on that thing before I can even put it together. :)

I know what you mean BotWT. I have my Command (Rohan) option available if needed, but I'm looking forward to the Monster category as a catalyst to finish up a Spider Queen which I want for my Dol Guldur force.

I started modifying the model about a year ago for a local Tale of Gamers but ended up not moving past cleaning and very rough GS prep work as I instead went with a Troll due to ally limits. So she's been sitting in my WiP stack ever since (...reminds me...I hope I can find her legs!). I still wasn't sure about starting her up again as most of my ally points have been going to growing my Angmar undead allies (ghostly legions for the most part) but then I realized I could use Shelob's points/profile for a seriously upgraded Spider Queen (I always thought she should have been a unique model) while bumping my Mordor points up even higher and giving more room for other allies.
