With my archers ready to fight, it's time for the next wip, the swordsmen. The formation hero is Boromir. The formation has a hornblower (almost ready) and a banner-bearer ("under construction"). Here are the photos:

More lovely work, BotWT. Will the Hornblower be called Horatio?

Apologies for the bloody awful pun 8) Puns are not just for Christmas, you know.

Not much of a progress about the B's boys, just the hornblower is almost ready:

Not so hard Chris because I found it ready. Check the Undead warrior to see what I mean.Though, to tell you the truth I felt sorry that I had destroyed this miniature. That's why, I asked from a friend of mine to give me some WH heads. I used the horns of the middle head for my Dwarf Shieldbearer. The rest I will use them to convert other miniatures to Hornblowers.

A few days ago, me and my wife went to shops to buy presents for friends' children. There, I saw an eagle plastic toy, which I bought having in mind to convert it to a LotR Giant Eagle (it costed 6 euros). The conversion was an interval to Boromir's boys project. Here are the results:

Nice job. It makes a perfect substitute for the GW eagle. Looks really good too. Have you painted that was it already painted like that?

Thanks for the comments. The first photo shows the eagle with its original colours. The second shows the size of the eagle if you compare it with a WoMT. The third shows what I did. I just repainted the feet and the wooden stick. Next, I washed the white feathers with Devlan mud because they were too bright. I also washed the beak because it was flat yellow. Finally, I added a GW base. That's it, not a lot of a conversion I must confess!

Lookin' really good. I have kept my eye out for a nice cheap toy eagle I could pick up and convert, but I have never come across one. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep looking.

Another interval from Boromir's boys. This time a friend of mine asked for Beregond. So, I took a poor archer, cut him in pieces, changed the head, the right hand and prolonged the legs! Below you can see the result so far. Tomorrow with green stuff I will make longer the tunic and make a cloak too.

Interesting, although atm, the head looks too gnarled and ancient to be Beregond, but it may well end up better when painted. The Eagle av=bove is well painted, and looks better than GW though.

Thank you for the comment. You are right, the head is taken from a Roman soldier. OK then, add to the tunic and the cloak, conversion for the hair. I will give him a long medieval style hair.
