Bieb Challenge II

Meet The Quota

Participants
    Sacrilege83
    ScarpeIron
    WayUnderTheMountain

Challenge requires at least 2 participants to be official. As of January 1st and thereafter a participant can enter any time. The challenge ends February 1st at this same hour this was posted. Participants must announce they're taking part in the challenge and provide entry proof photos that can be dated to the month of January, models can already be assembled and primed just not painted. Once you enter you can't back out so think it through for a long while before participating. Whoever can completely paint and base the most minis based on points and upload the proof photos of the finished work, wins. This challenge is made to reduce backlog and is separate from the Paint Me An Army WIP, but still counts towards it for the people who are keeping score. Those that want to normally participate in the Community WIP without being in the challenge, just ignore this post.

The point values of the models painted goes as such:

-Foot model (25mm base), horseless rider, riderless mount (40mm base) = 1point
-Calvary model/monster (40mm base) & small siege machine (excluding crew) = 2 points
-Large monster (Mordor Troll, The Terror Gulhavar, Eagle etc) & siege machine (excluding crew) = 6 points
-Flying Nazgul including black rider = 8 points
-Balrog = 10 points
-Very large monster (Dragon, Cave Drake) = 12 points
-Mumakil (excluding crew)= 20 points

The quality of the paint job and base work is not judged, but it is expected that every detail is painted to the fullest with more than three colors applied on the model. We don't want to see any primed models with small amounts of colour posted up here as finished!

Loser(s) must apply the photo below as the profile pic for the full month of January:
Image

As well as apply the following line in their profile signature for a full month:
I <3 Justin Bieber

Participants must apply the consequences of the Bieb if one of the following apply:
    1) You fail to meet the challenge's points quota which is: 25 points must be completed this month.
    2) You've entered the challenge, but failed to provide any proof photos of your finished work on time.
    3) You've resigned from the challenge. Likely because the going got tough.

Failure to comply with these consequences will ban you from future challenges and will gain you the reputation on these boards as a member that doesn't keep his word. OOOOoooooOOOOooooohhhhhh. :P
Unless you take up the charge later, then one can be allowed to enter again.

If there's any questions, ask away or any suggestions, criticisms or ideas at all for future challenges let them be read!

So........ just need to clarify a couple of things.

1.Only the lowest scoring entrant becomes a Bieber? ( even if they meet the quota)

2.Does the 100 point Bieberdom rule still exist or have we banished that one to the depths of the underworld?

I'm going to take a break from this challenge. It was fun and all, but I felt rushed. And I need more sleep. The entire Christmas break I was up past 12.
If I get bored though, I will join back in. Good luck to everyone, and DMS, go for the 100pts!

I'm not entirely sure if I enter this or not, I may do, but I will definately have well over the 100 mark. See my WIP for the full numbers. The reason I may not join is that it wouldn't be fair on others see.

1. No, that rule doesn't apply tis time around.

2. No, put it out for this challenge. Figured a few of you did so much bulk painting that you need a break from it.

This challlenge is an easy one and more inviting. You're more or less competing against yourself rather than the pressure of competition. 25 points should do a significant amount of damage to a person's backlog.

Besides I have an alterior motive, I'm spending a lot of time exercising this month for a weight loss challenge, not much time for me to paint.

Next month I'll have it be "Last place is a rotten Bieb" where you paint as much to secure that you won't finish last on points.
Then after that I'll probably do a "safe zone" one where if a person scores X amount of points, everyone else becomes a Bieber unless people score Y amount of points to become exempted. Y < X amount of points. Something like Y = 40 amd X = 60.

First the proofs. Sorry for the quality. Camera sucks.
There are several dwarves, haradrim and rohirrim as well as Dain, Balin, Boromir, Pippin, Merry and Gimli.

644
643

10 Haradrim, 3 Rohirrim, 1 Harad Chieftain and Gimli!

642
641
640
639

EDIT:WayUnderThe Mountain: 0...

I won't count these points due to several errors on my part. I'll try again this weekend (as I don't have the patience to paint a pile of models again so soon). I'll have to get some stuff for basing too it seems. Learning lots of new things on this forum, first green stuff, now basing.

Remember; to be fully counted as completed: models must be "completely paint (at least 3 colors) and base(d)". You have a painted mini, but no basing to them.

They look really good, I like Gimli, and in  12hrs ...looks like we have a speedster on our hands :yay: Going to have to start getting serious or I'll be Bieber'd again...suckage.

Your Haradrim look good WUTM but as Scar says , get them based to make em count. Also you need to have something in your proof photos to date them for January.

I might sit this month out as a want to put a bit of extra time into some specials.

I think maybe a new thread should be started for this challenge.... in case the 'Paint me an army' thing starts up again (unlikely but you never know) :)

I agree - it does warrant its own thread. I think there should be a tally of points scored on a monthly basis too like a league, that'd be great ( sorry Sacrilege, more work for you.)

I like the "Bieb Challenge" being in this thread for two or three reasons. 1) it's a sticky thread, 2) It is a "community WIP", it's the same idea, I was just coming up with a way to revive the thread a little. 3) If the original "community WIP" idea does somehow get revived, now then participants are taking part in two categories that are very much alike or the same.

I'll think about the scoreboard idea DMS.

And please have proof photos clear and dated. But no worries WayUnder.

And Elros, LOOKING GREAT!

I've made sure the next bunch of proofs have the time and date. I have several dwarves, a few more Rohirrim and a bunch of Heroes up to the plate. The big thing is getting basing done which I don't have time for until the weekend.

@ScarpeIron and DMS, thanks guys. I was kind of worried I'd lose my quality with such a short painting time frame. I did make some mistakes but overall I am content with the minatures.

@ScarpeIron, I'm a fast painter because as I've mentioned on other threads I don't have a lot of patience to I have to set up my models assembly-line style and go hard for a day. Then I can't paint again for 2-3 days after.

That said, we're all lucky there is no auto-Bieber trigger I can set off like DMS almost did. I'd have no life (not to mention loathing the act of painting) and you'd all be Biebered. :P

Well this month's challenge went nowhere. I guess WayUnder, ScarpeIron and I will be spending a month in Bieberdom. ScarpeIron must really love JB.

Anyway if anyone wants to participate in a Bieb challenge for this month let me know I'll put one up. I won't be participating in it though, have been really unmotivated these past several weeks.

Prettier than your av still! Just look at those perly whites and that comb over with huge volume.

Anyway DMS laugh it up, nothing will beat the memory of you scoring 100 points in the previous challenge but your camera failed you in turning everyone else into Biebers. All that hard work doesn't really pay off! :P
