Am I the only one that collects to paint and not play?

For nearly 4 years now I've spent atleast 100 or less euros on LotR SBG and 40k and I have yet to play a single game other than myself and I have no intention going to a game club and playing. But I enjoy painting and converting the models to my liking. Maybe a few years in the future I may have time to play but currently I only paint and convert, any else do that to, because I feel alone

You're not alone. I've fully painted and based 160 LotR miniatures over the last few years and am yet to even play a game. I'll play with them one day...one day.

I am kinda in your boat. I've never been to any tournaments nor went to any game-shop to play.

Essentially my body started doing this when he was twelve, and I always said "That's lame." But then one night I saw him painting and
wanted to do it to... Well the rest is history. Honestly I mostly get models just to play with him, but since he is in law school now and I still get models...

Well I get them to paint and future games

. I have also converted my fiancee in SBG, but she mostly just enjoys the painting aspect.

I painted my 1000th Lotr miniature about a year ago am a serious collector and have never played a game in my life lol

i've played 2-3 scenarios with my little sister when i got the "battle games in middle earth" magazines, but since then just painting and collecting..

not many people play miniature games around here and thanks to the crisis. i guess it will remain that way for quite some time..
i can always teach one of my friends how to play and we can use my models, but i don't have enough for a single army (let alone 2).. so that will take some time aswell..

but i really do love the painting part..

You are certainly not the only one (as you can probably tell from the replies already). I'm also a painter/collector rather than a gamer. Though I do play a game now and then (although not at all for the past couple of years).

I'm a gamer who hates the look of an unpainted army. I paint to play, not for fun, though it is awesome when you paint a figure to a good standard.

Quendell and I could probably both use some help. I too have never played a game officially yet, though I have tried my hand at those GamesDay table "Big Games." Quendil, I'd be interested to see a trade list from you. Check out my trade thread as well.

I've only played a handful of games, all in the privacy of me & my friends' homes. I'm really more of a hobbyist.

I used to game back when I first started. Painting was more of an inconvenience at the time, in fact I did some pretty shocking painting tbh. It got painted quick or not at all basically. Now I'm going back and trying to undo/improve some of that so I'm more of a painter than a gamer at present.

Collector here, not much of a painter since I let my minis collect dust on a shelf with the intention to paint. I've always promised my friend, "we'll have a game we'll have a game." But I never get around to inviting him, I'm always thinking I don't have enough models painted or the ones that I would like done for a game. Sometimes I do get a chance though to play my friends, once every few months.

I only collect and paint. Have never played a game in my life. Have 1000+ mini's to paint. That keeps me busy enough! lol

I've been for many years a collector and painter, because I've always lived in nowhere land. Almost got one of my friends into it, but he didn't like the painting aspect. We did play a game of Mines of Moria, but I think I cheated alot by accident, infinite might points, that sort of thing. Depending if I study in one of the bigger cities next year, I may hopefully start gaming a bit. My big dream is to join a tournament in the US or the UK, one day.
