I consider myself cured now. My backlog is around 100 miniatures now and I don't even intend to paint them all until they are actually needed. Most of them are plastic duplicates I'm saving for conversions and such things.

During the backlog reduction I developed a new system for painting and buying: I buy and paint only miniatures that have immediate use. In practice this means One-Ring painting challenge miniatures and miniatures for the next game I know I will be playing with some friend (e.g. my brother said he'd like to play next the Dol Amroth vs. Harad war from BotPF so I am buying and painting minis for that). It has worked really well and I'm cranking out painted miniatures faster and with better motivation than previously when I had to paint something I didn't like before advancing my current project.

So it's basically now "finish a project before starting another even if it means buying new stuff". And a project is something I either play with others, or show to others, not a group of warriors sitting on my shelf.

I agree with you whole-heartedly. Whenever I have a game planned, Ialways get a sudden burst of hobby-want and go crazy doing a bunch of work on the guys I'll be playing with. (assuming that they're not already done...)

Hi guys :) Haven't posted on here in a while, nobody missed me I assume :p

Anyhow, a few things have happened since i last visited, hobby-wise I have bought WAYY too many models than i need (of course) including a large bundle of stuff from a friend which has roughly 1600 points of Isengard (lots of metals too, high five!) some high elves (some plastic and some metal) and a few easterlings, all in need of repainting. Also some stuff straight from GW, a bit of 40k in there (..renegade!)

So obviously I have my work cut out for myself, on top of the unpainted protion of the rest of my collection this will take a while, and i intend to post my progress on here or on a WIP thread. Watch this space...

So, I've found out I don't actually buy Nappies, but get them all as gifts... And as such, further participation from me would be quite useless.

Count me in as well. I am returning to the hobby after a few years break so the first task is to work out exactly what I have. Some painted things need repairs and various bits are half done. I have just picked up the journey books of eBay and once the backlog is reduced a bit I am going to work out what I need to work through the books with my boys.

Counted up last night and it's about 250 figs but that does include a mumukil.

I actually decided on this by myself, I'm happy to see I'm not the only one struggling.

My decision was a little more extreme though. No new figures until all of my backlog is done! :(

I'm in the process of moving countries, but I'll update my sig once I have an exact count so I can be SHAMED on the internet if my willpower fails.
