Hello all, I have just got a 24 corsair pack and want to start a Corsair army.
If possible I would like to include Dalamyr. I would also prefer not to use Haradrim.
Please help me.

best would be to convert them into reavers, and spears wouldn't be bad idea so if you don't want to use haradrim, you can always use orcs.
Dylamir isn't great, a nazgul is always more worth the points. But theme-wise, Dylamir has something

Thanks for the quick reply! But why is Dalamyr not good?

I always thought he is a good hero-killer.

So what is the best way to get the value out of him?

Corsairs have spears, so I'm not sure why someone would suggest allies. Especially as the Warband rules don't guarantee being close together for deployment. Corsairs are soft, so you don't want to waste turns getting their spear support into position. I'd invest in another box of Corsairs and a couple blisters of Arbalesters and try to convert some archers into Reavers. For 500 points I'd try this:

Warband 1:
Dalamyr
6 Corsair Reavers
6 Corsairs with boarding pike

Warband 2:
Captain with shield
5 Corsair Reavers
6 Corsairs with boarding pike

Warband 3:
Corsair Bo'Sun with crossbow
9 Corsair Arbalesters

That comes to 501 points total and I think is just about the best you can do while incorporating Dalamyr.

Why would you include the Bo'sun in the Arbalester group? Wouldn't you want him to be close to combat?

If its possible to get a better list without Daamyr ill take it.

And yes as Constantine said why include Bo'sun with arbalesters?

Honestly? Because he's the cheapest Hero you can take, his shooting is just as good as a Corsair Captain, and there weren't points to take a second Captain.

Without Dalamyr, I'd go for this:

Warband 1:
Corsair Captain with shield
6 Corsair Reavers
6 Corsairs with boarding pike

Warband 2:
Corsair Captain with shield
6 Corsair Reavers
6 Corsairs with boarding pike

Warband 3:
Corsair Captain with crossbow
12 Corsair Arbalesters

Same points, four more models, three extra Might and three extra shots. Only problem is theme, as three Captains likely wouldn't fight together in such a small battle. Ah well, such is life with Warbands.

Squishy is a good word for this army.

12 rangers will average 8 hits per turn, and rolling 5's to wound, that is 2 or 3 kills per turn. My opponent averaged better, even when I hid my Reavers behind D6 Easterling Shields. Cleaned me.

Play at higher points to recruit a Shadow Lord. Or hope for scenarios with short distances for fewer turns.

No throwing daggers? I am not a fan for any model with less than 3+ accuracy, but I thought it was a big draw for Cosair players.

Corsair Crossbows: hurtful, but tricky. Dig in behind those D6 shields? Not sure you'll win an archery contest. Scenario dependent. Full movement penalty is hard on Objective Scenarios. Move them to the sides to harass? Can't use them in close combat with their D3, unless you maybe shield and pray--Dwarf tactic style--while you sweep flanks? Dwarves have better defence (against S4 anyway) and Wood Elves better Fight Value for this tactic. Plus you won't be shooting much if you use them for anything but archery. I have never used them for these (theorical) reasons; a better player might make it work.

Try this:

Shadow Lord Mtd
12 Orc Spears

Corsair Bo'sun
12 Reavers

Corsair Capt
5 Reavers
4 Corsair Spears

36 units Only 4 might 499 points. A named Nazgul at this level would be nasty, cover the squishiness to get 17 Reavers into combat, with 16 Spear support
Three attacks against the usual two--plus higher Fight Value--gives you a 71% chance of winning each combat. I forgot the banner! Up those odds. Or replace Bo'sun for another Capt, as more Might will be more useful than even higher odds of winning.

Get some Insta-mold http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ub70AU5RfmI to cheaply convert those Corsairs to Reavers. Any mounted Nazgal off Ebay will do for ShadowLord.

Deployment must be handled well though, or he gets 12 unassisted Reavers and 12 hard-to-hit Orcs for the first couple turns of the game.
