It says the Hunter Orcs on wargs can be used as Hunter Orcs or Fell Wargs, perhaps you need to buy the boxed hunter orcs to use your fell wargs.

This is very strange though as the orcs are modelled onto the sides of the wargs as opposed to being perched on like the RoR

EDIT: Please refrain from posting stats.

A few quick points based on the new rule book and the comments and pictures on this thread:
1. The Orc with the spiked neck piece is Azog, the father of Bolg. He appears in the movie as he is the one who killed Thror (Thorin's grandfather) and defiled his body. This led to the war of the orcs and dwarves and the death of Azog at the hands of Dain Ironfoot at the terrible battle of Azanulbizar. After Azog's death, Bolg succeeded his father as overlord of the orcs and goblins of the misty mountains. I don't think the rumours of Azog being raised from the dead by the necromancer are likely to prove true, but who knows! If you look in the new rules book you'll see a picture of Azog riding a warg and his warg is especially nasty under the new rules
2. the figure of the Goblin King "wielding" a goblin (Yaznag or whatever he's called) is also shown in the new rule book and it's clearly just another goblin, not an Orc.
3. For the elf fans out there, the new Elrond figure is an armoured figure wielding and sword two handed and is accompanied by a mounted version with the sword held one handed and pointed forwards. Both of these figures are also shown in the new rule book. There is also to be a foot and mounted figure of "Lindir the Harper" the character often referred to as "Figwit" after his appearance in the lord of the rings films. He is a counsillor of Elrond.
Hope that's helpful

Yazneg is not the goblin wielding Goblin King, that's just another pose for the Goblin King aka the Great Goblin.

The only problem being that the model in question is on grey/ black warg whereas Azog's profile clearly states the warg is White. And the leaked release says Yaznag is being released. And, Bolg is supposed to be the son of Azog and he looks like someone stole his cookies and eat them in front of him. Azog should look way more intimidating that the model in question.

I'm confused now (no Rulebook) but it sounds like there are interesting minis to be contemplated in the New Year (finances allowing).

GW did just release the MoM fellowship set for (snicker) fifty dollars. :).

Just jumped in on this thread, very interested in this. I knew they would release something in February as January is likely to be either Vampire Counts or 40k Orks based on the rumors (they like to alternate). I suspected the Grim Hammers and new Radagast along with the Rivendell Knights, interesting to see a new Elrond, new Goblin King (I suppose it had to be done) and some sort of new Orc/Goblin captain there...

Question is, does this exhaust the list of potential releases for the year? Or do they still have some ammo to do another wave in April/May.

well there are rules in the book for Azog, Lindir, Thror, Thrain and Dwarves of Erebor so there is still stuff for them to release. And dont forget the infamous bunny sled for radagast.

If I were a betting man, I'd expect a bunch of releases in Feb/March and then another set of releases in July/August which would cover everything in the film and have them well set up to hype for the next movies as the autumn rolls in.

The other option, of course, is some sort of supplement release in summer to boost the release cycle. The war of the dwarves and orcs is an obvious choice. So they can, uh, resell the plastic dwarf rules and I dunno, Finecast Khazad Guard?

But yeah, there won't be a vast horde of minis with this movie release.

I would expect a major release to coincide with the DVD/Blu-ray going on sale as GW will have dovetailed everything to benefit from Warner/New Line advertising (it was probably in the licensing agreement also). Other release would be smaller scale - blisters, small boxes mostly. By major release I mean bigger boxes and at least 1 supplement in book form.

Elrond on horseback is in the big rulebook. He's pictured with some of the Rivendell knights.

Is there any word on Men of Dale?

I would've thought if they released a big rule book, Men of Dale/Lake-town would have been thrown in there.
