First of all I want to say a nice "Hallo" to this community. I am from germany and used to play a lot of LotR back in the day of he first three Starterboxesbut stopped some years ago. I still have a nice sizeable Dwarf army which I am going to revive but never got around to collect an "evil" army.

The most important thing are the models for me, but like everybody I like winning some games, too :oops: .

I am looking for a nice 250-300 points Army in the beginning which can be expanded later on. I would love a Mahud Force since its a rare sight and I dig the models, but I remember on their own they were allways a little bit lackluster and I am getting the feeling it hasn`t changed much, so I could see myself expanding the Idea to an "Far Harad " Army with emphasis on Mahud and other nice Harad Models.

What should I get? I was gone for way to long and could use some help.

take some mahur riders on camels and a king, that's good becouse of their imperial charche.
maybe take also some halftrolls or mahud warriors.

"Imperial" charge? Somebody's word suggester needs a review :)

I too really like the Mahud models, but I think they need help on their own. Harad or Easterlings make good companions imho, and a wraith can't hurt. Neither can a Mumak :)

Mahud are indeed some of the most unique Human models GW made. And I love em'! I have the Mahud Wartribe Battlehost for WOTR built up. So cool!

Okay, now the viability of them as a formidable foe...

Mahud Raiders are great. They carry the War Spear and the model has the blowpipe, perfect for WYSIWYG. The dish out a free Str 4 hit as soon as they contact an enemy model when charging. Remember they are still cavalry... fragile and exposed. I would take the Half Trolls in number. Then support them with some Mahud Warriors with spears.

Topics like this give me nostalgia, I remember a time when the Mahud were amazing...

On topic, the Mahud Raider sthough weaker, are still very good, War Spears are quite handy, diasgree on blowpipes however, these are still pretty good cavalry. Half Trolls are really good too, but not as much theses days because they no longer have Strength 5 spear support. But Terror is still a nice boon. The warriors are not too good on their own, nice as allies as pointed out, you might as well go 100% blowpipes on the regular warriors so they are actually useful.

The regular troops aren't the Uruk Berzerker-level slaughter machines they used to be, but they're still boasting above average Strength. Frankly, the old profiles were prime examples of the insane power creep the game has seen.
