So you should have taken him back and exchanged it for free. Not hassle free, but free. Even with the new sculpts your still going to get a few duds. I've had bad metal models too

I didn't notice all the defects until I had cut him off the sprue and as I was cleaning him, kinda too late to return. And the closest GW is closed monday and tuesday, which always seems to be the days when I'm close by. The most annoying part is not being able to tell what is the 'ultra great' detail that you get with finecast, and what is bubbles. Which is more a fault of the figure, though if there were no bubbles I would know.....

It might not be too late. I'd just be honest with them and try. "hey I didn't notice what was wrong till I was able to get a closer look" or something their replacement policy is really really loose. They cant resell it anyway because it's defective. That's why I don't think it would matter.

We gotta get more proactive though. Next time a 40k site posts the new releases I'm going to contact that person and ask about the hobbit miniatures. Kind of ridiculous that we still don't know what's coming till Saturday.

Warlord, a member of the German tabletop-hdr forums, has made some interesting find:

A German retailer has listed Thrain, the Captain of Erebor and the Captain of Dale as new releases for April.
No pics yet, but seems very likely to me since they can be pre-ordered.

We can see three Hobbit packs in the picture, and the German website above would make sense in regard to recent releases but would suggest that there are just three releases this month. Personally I would hope for more, and the page layout could allow for this?

You dont want to talk to them, they are a bit weird, spend all there spare time hunched over painting tables painting small men, then posting on forums and reading strange rule books......Hold on, thats me....Ahhh...and you... :o

Like we need another Gandalf. :dizzy:

The Dale captain looks really bad to me. The helmet looks huge, and the 'spike' on the top of the helmet looks like it's a spear tip??

Not crazy about any of these models but Thrain looks pretty good and I will buy it assuming the price is $20 or less.

The captains can easily be converted out of the existing plastic ranges so these single Finecast models for $15-$20 each are not a good value IMO, especially as they don't look all that great.

Yeah, another Gollum! Interesting pose for Bilbo but he and Gandalf don't look good at all to me. Very chunky and odd.

How long are they going to make us wait for Azog? Seems like they are just holding out hoping to build up demand for a model that is sure to break the bank as a dual model Finecast pack.

OMG THAT GRIMHAMMER CAPTAIN SCULPT!!!!!!!!!

AHHH YESSS!

JESUS CHRIST THAT IS NICE!

Also, what bad-ass sculpts for ol' Bilbo and Gandalf! Gollum is also great. As is Thrain.

IT'S ALL GREAT!!

I like the look of those dwarves and that gandalf, but I really hate the look of that nazi gollum, I'm not big on the rest of the model either

Edit, thanx for putting pics up :)

edit: working now... quite nice though not too much to be fussed about IMHO.

Captain of dale. Is it just me or does he look like he's saluting with his sword just before walking drunkenly out of Dale's local pub?

Thrain. Nice looking model... looks well sculpted... I bet he'll be ridiculously overpriced FinePoo though...

Bilbo. nice looking model imo. They've captured his movement well. Not sure when in the film he's jumping over a tree stump with sting in his hand though

Gandalf. seems a very strange model with too much beard.
Simply don't understand it.

For me best models are thrain and captain of erebor

Thrain is almost exactly as the movie and very detailed (very nice model)
Captain of erebor looks very good specially seeing a lotro model with 2 hand weapons (axe and hammer I think) and in a very nice action pose
Dale Captain looks ok, seems hes very imposing on his pose which is nice

Gandalf is ok with a model action pose type but I need to see the entire model to see if its nice to get
Bilbo running off the shire with the contract and all his affairs, the model´s pose looks nice although some head proportions volumetry and such... meh
Now gollum..... cmon since when he got that face expression? specially the teeth... have you seen how many they got? he got all his teeths thats not normal and look at his left hand those fingers are 2 short compared to previous models..

I think that this Bilbo was intended for when the Hobbit was 2 movies, this looks like it could be a sculpt for a 'mirkwood' Bilbo...

Also not every mini has to represent a moment of the film has it?

heh, no thanks.

I am liking this, my inner collector demon gets told to be quiet and go sleep. None of those are terribly appealing. I am sure I'll convert a Dale captain from the plastics (which I haven't actually bought yet :p)

Means I can focus my purchasing on the wishlist I've already made.

Anyone else think Gandalf is wearing the Sorting Hat from Harry Potter?
