A great choice of colours applied excellently. However I think you can go lighter with the red for even more contrast.

GtG, thanks for the feedback. Here's some pictures that show off the highlighting better. I'm still not 100% satisfied with these though as I had to use the flash....I really need to get a better photo setup.
Do you still think that I should go lighter? For me this is already lots of definition, but I'm used to a really muted style, and so I've already pushed things on this gal. If you still really think that lighter would be better, I may just go for it; as the whole point of this gal was to stretch myself and try a different way of painting. :)

Any other opinions would be great as well!

The highlighting looks great. I don't think it needs lightening any further - in fact I think on the robes much more highlighting could endanger the balance of the subtle effect you've achieved. I think you need to fix that left eye though, her expression is... odd.

Absolutely love the paint job on this but I do fell you could go a touch lighter with it, may be just one more high light. However she is impressive as is 8)

I was thinking it was highlighted enough but I've looked again. The folds on the front. The one running down the centre of the figure is as light as the breast area and the top of the folded arm. That centre fold needs to be one stage darker than the rest so do one more very thin highlight to the lightest part of the breast, bent arm and the very top of the fold on the raised arm.
It great that you are pushing yourself like this.
I do agree about the eyes though.

And here she is. I added the extra highlight, and fixed the eyes. What do ya'll think? And thanks for the feedback, it helps me get better. :)

Really effective, brave to choose a different colour for the cloth, it really works

I like the paint job a lot on this one. Nice highlights and the skin is spot on, but the base to me is lacking. That's just my opinion though :) Very well done, I'm sure you'll do well in the challenge.

Thanks everyone. PoW, I do wish that Icould do crazy bases like DMS and others, but Idon't ahve the various flocking and foliage for that, and I want her to fit in with the rest of my gaming figures. I guess that's one of the drawbacks of painting her well, but ultimately for gaming, her base needs to be similar to my simple gaming ones... :( I may not do so well in the competition (even if it is a painting competition and not a basing one, I know that the base effects me....) but that's okay, I painted one of my best figures ever, that's what counts.

Just fyi, I'm gone for most of the summer; so my hobby time will be practically non-existant. I will probably pop in on the weekends and see what's up, but will not get much done myself. 8)

Yes, have a good holiday. Galadriel doesn't need fancy basing, you did such a good paint job anything else would draw the eye away from it.

I know what you mean. I didn't realize you were going to be using this figure for gaming, in which case the base is perfectly fine, and does go well with the others.
Enjoy your trip! :)
