Here is Sam converted from the Captured by Gondor set.
The cloak has been filed down to look like he's wearing a jacket. There is a trowel I have added as he will be working on one of the veg patches. I have worked on the OSL a bit more to show the sunlight coming from above. With all this time I've spent modelling and building Bag End, I realise it's about four months since I worked on a figure !!! Looks like I will need to get some more practise in as I would describe this effort as a little ropey.
I have also played about with a light box for my photo's. I'm not totally happy as the colours aren't as rich as they appear in real life.Image

And the back

Great conversion, certainly! I can really see him in situ on the boards you've made so far.

Also, the "No Admittance" sign is beautifully done- inspiring stuff!

Great conversion Mally, are you going to do his Old Gaffer?

Great Sam conversion.
I think you have too much light in the images so the colours are bleached out. Try setting your camera to underexpose, taking it down a notch at a time (the value depends on the model of camera) until you get a result you like. The alternative is manipulating the image in Photoshop, PaintshopPro or similar applications.

Thanks Mertaal but the photo of the gate and sign is not mine. I have to play about to get the sign done.

I don't have a gaffer but Bilbo is done and in place.

Thanks Dorthonion. I will try that, if I can work it out. I'm using a set up with an Ikea bin over the top of the figure with a light shining down. I think a few more goes are needed, in different light conditions.

I've converted Frodo and am painting him now. Every chance this could be finished tomorrow !!!

After 4 months work it's finally done and I have to admit to being pleased with the outcome.
The only thing I was not able to do was the sign. That could be something I try to get sorted in the future, but for now it's sitting pride of place in my display area.
please forgive this being a bit picture heavy but i hope you appreciate that something as large as this would take a few shots to capture most things. Unfortunately this can never give the impression of seeing in the flesh.

Thanks to everyone who has given me invaluable advice along the way with this. It has been a steep learning curve but it's given me an insatiable bug to get more done.

Absolutely beautiful piece! I lack the words to describe it. :)
Maybe you get the chance to grab a Gandalf on his cart sometime to fill this scene with even more life, or a Paladin Took waving his hat to Bilbo..

Exceptional work. Really precisely executed. It's apparent how much work has gone in to this, and the attention to detail is impressive.

I don't think it necessarily needs the party sign- during the height of "party business" would frodo have the time to lounge around under a tree while sam trims the verge!?

What an amazing piece! There are so many details, beautiful flowers and plants, and more. It also looks really realistic.

A true joy to the eye, even though we cannot see it in real-life! :yay:

Brilliant
All that hard work really paid off. You have a piece I am envious of and you should be proud of yourself.
The attention to detail is fantastic, Well Done 8)
