Lovely model, moulded onto his scenic base. Only his quiver of arrows comes separate.

Have to say I'm loving these new minis, Bard in particular. Might even tempt me into making my first GW purchase in over a year...

Hm.. it's a nice model no doubt, but I think I'll wait til the one shown in the rulebook comes out.

And yeah, you should sculpt a pirates hat on his head. Who knew, Cpt Jack Sparrow killed Smaug...

I think you mean Will Turner. But yes a pirate hat and maybe a flintlock pistol instead of that bow would make quite an impressive swashbuckler.

Hey Bard, why the long face?

Sorry. It's just so... thin and long and his chin could have your eye out. :D

It's probably the cost of shipping it here, and the fact that there's a much smaller market for it too.

$200 for a warband is a bit extravagant though.

Not this time, there was nothing other than Bard that I really needed/ wanted urgently so I just got him.

Just picked up a bunch of new releases at my LGS. The detail on the Master of Lake Town, Alfrid, and the Laketown Guard Captain are amazing. I hate finecast, but these sculpts are the nicest I've seen. I'm almos tafraid to try to paint them...

Bard is very good but doesn't seem to have quite the sharpness of these other models. I still bought him anyway because overall it's a very nice model. The one I picked up didn't seem to have the pointy chin problem the other one posted here has.

I wasn't impressed with the detail on the Laketown Guard themselves. They look like plastic minis but made in finecast. The detail is clearly below these character models, especially in comparison to the LTG Captain. The only pack they had was the swordsman, so I can't comment on the archers or spearmen.

Still, I dropped $200 on a variety of figs including some previously released stuff I hadn't picked up yet. Picked up Yazneg, Palace Guard, and Thrandiul, also a very sharp model.

Bard's face looks slightly too long, the mini in the DoS-book looks better and I'll buy that version when it comes out.

Yeah, I'm waiting on the rulebook version - it looks like half of this bards face is forehead, and the rest of it is a triangle.

Had a look at Gandalf and the swordsguard in my local gw, and I must admit I was not impressed, especially by the weapons and staff, they just looked so thin, and had all warped pretty badly, Gandafs especially bent.

Actually the unpainted Bard looks a bit like Bruce Campbell from where I'm sitting. Maybe it's just the chin...

Klaatu... Verata... :)

If I thought he looked like Brice Campbell, I would buy him just for that. The chin matches, but the rest of the jaw doesn't.
