I finaly finished all the miniatures with some paint already on them.
Here is Saruman

Next up is Gondor. I will try to finish all the remnants of my Gondor collection that have escaped the paintbrushes for far to long.
The rangers:

The knights of Gondor

The metal collection:

And the warriors. Already with some colour. I took the pictures a week ago, so at the moment they are almost finished.

And again some older parts of my collection. Repaired/varnished:
Farmer Maggot:
Image

Balin, Murin en Drar:
Image

Theoden, Haldir and two Gandalfs:
Image

Elendil and Isildur:
Image

Harad command:
Image

Ferals:
Image

Isengard heroes:
Image

Army of the dead:
Image

My Gondorian heroes:
Image

Command of Minas Tirith+ bolt thrower
Image

And some random stuff.
Image

As you can see, they are not the best painted miniatures :rofl: . Al do I really liked my Theoden and Haldir when I was younger. And I still think the paintjob on my army of the dead isn't that bad.

Well, you have been busy. The Fellbeast repair looks good and yes, Bombur is the stand-out best painted of the bunch - so far! If you can do it that good once, you can do it again.

Wow, you have been prolific!

The KoMT with red banners look great- very effective alternate colour scheme. Bombur super- I think you've done well with being aware of how much paint is on the brush, if that makes sense. You're mostly using a drybrushing/semi drybrushing technique I think? Important to make sure you wipe off exactly the right amount of paint. Do you test the brush on a piece of paper before applying to the miniature? I find that helps me gauge how harsh or subtle the effect I'm going to get is.

Keep up the good work!

I think your models are generally very good apart from the basing. Could do with some extra neatness or coats of paint on the base.

I like Bombur ad the Fell Beast, very nice :yay:

That central Feral Uruk-hai looks like it'd be great for a Bolg conversion, hmm.

For my recent miniatures I use a basecoat, one or two layers and a wash. As for Bombur I used the layering technique. Put a lot more effort in him, Bombur the hero from the desolation of Smaug movie :-D
The older miniatures were indeed done by drybrushing, the 14years old me never was a painter :) .

I'me still experimenting with the basing, maybe some lighter colours? Next batch of miniatures will undergo the experiment.

:roll: I prefer the old Bolg, such a beautiful model, and the Ferals are to naked for an orc general :P .

Can't agree with you more, a fantastic Bombur but let's not forget your other stuff, the fell beast is wonderful and the berserkers I really like, they are very dark and foreboding.

Thanks,

I managed to repair/varnish another bulk of miniatures.
The Gondor horde ready for their first use in WOTR.

Woodelves with a terrible paintjob. If I ever run out of miniatures to paint, they would be the first that will undergo the a repainting.

A fiefdom army in the making:
Image

And once more I repaired, varnished more of the older parts of the collection.
My old riders of Rohan. Sadly most of the legs where broken. So it took a while to repair them.
Image
Image

Uruk-hai demolition teams:
Image
Image

The goblin horde, still need to paint about 24 more goblins. If I ever come to that :P But as you can see the younger me did his best:
Image
Image

And at last the orc horde. They where the first model I painted eleven years ago. And you can see the different basing. The neater onces are the first orcs I painted when restarting with the hobby two years ago:
Image
Image
Image
Image

And I painted up some easy models for the backlog reduction oath in january. Some warriors of the dead. I painted them so they would match with the rest of the army of the dead. Didn't put to much effort in them :). The banner came with them when I bought them from a Flemish equivalent of ebay. I liked it, so converted a warrior with a broken sword. I also used the new technical paints for a rust affect. And it worked out quiet well I believe.

Oh boy; you sure are a fast painter I like how you've bespattered the Isengard troll with blood; and your Army of the Dead is very well painted, same goes for the Bat Swarm.

I always love to retouch miniatures I'd painted years ago, will you repaint your old miniatures?

That looks like quite a burgeoning Fiefdoms army; what models have you bought so far?

No I won't repaint the old ones. It would take ages to finish them :p. I'm satisfied with just repairing and varnishing them.
Also my painting will slow down rapidly from next week on. College starts again so I will be busy.
My fiefdom collection consists for the moment of:
Forlong and six axemen of Losarnach;
Angbor and six Clansemen of Lamedon;
Duinhir and twelve blackroot vale archers plus Blackroot Vale archers command set;
Imrahil of Dol Amroth, a captain on foot and mounted of Dol Amroth;
The king of the dead and about fifteen warriors of the dead.
Still needed to collect more of Dol Amroth

If I may, the flesh tone you've been using (more so on your older minis) is quite pale. It gives some of the minis a sickly appearance. Rather than repainting them all, I'd suggest an Ogryn Flesh (or whatever the chestnut-like wash is these days) wash over the faces and hands to give them some depth and a little more warmth and colour.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I rather buy new miniatures and paint them then repainting the old ones :p. I still have an ever increasing backlog. I know the old vary between ugly, uglier and ugliest ^^, but if I start correcting faces and so on, it will never stop :roll: .

Now I paint about a week for one warband (about 10 houres I believe). And heroes in one or two houres. But the old ones where done very swiftly. When I was 12-13 years old I didn't like the painting much, so only a few houres for a box with 24 warriors.
