Hope your not referring to me GtW .. lol i'm skint :)

I love this collection and am very much a completist. I work hard to fund securing the rarer parts of the collection and it all seems worthwhile once I get a chance to paint one up. The downside of course is i rarely get the chance to paint anything for myself these days - catch 22

It's nice you, unlike the buyer of this "lot", actually works for it, but don't you think it a bit absurd? Whilst you are not one of them, some people complain about a model costing £5 each, but then go out to buy something like that. Whilst these 4 are nice models, they're not worth that much. It is GWs fault though.

As for you being skint, I wonder why lol. Over £600 for one ft & mtd model.

On the other hand, if ever there was someone talented enough to paint one of these things without ruining it, you are certainly that guy, and it's a shame you may never get round to them. If you ever get a chance, spare a thought to the wonderful people of One Ring and open your loving WIP to its wonders. At this rate, you'' have to wait until you retire (so not long then  )

Hahah GtW - thank you i think lol

I tend not to let myself get drawn into the GW pricing debates as i don't find them relevant to my situation. Its not that I have lots of money as believe me I don't. I work full time to support my family and then paint on commission to fund my own collection. I made a promise to someone long ago to paint every model in the Lord of the Rings range and i'll keep that promise. As I've probably said somewhere before I'd buy GW's Lotr and Hobbit range at todays prices if they were made from ice lol.

Re. sparing a thought for my fellow One Ringers I spare you all lots of thoughts. Always happy to help any of you guys out with anything you need. You know where to find me (hiding in the chat box usually )

One day when GW stop releasing Lotr/Hobbit models I'll be able to scale back on the commission paints and to quote Gothmog
"the time of the orc is over the time of the spectre has come "
and i'll spend the next 150 years painting my disgraceful back log .
thanks for the kind words mate.

I've paid a lot more than £600 for one model, well it was a foot and mtd...

Thorongil? ... :E

Even though that's crazy, it’s nice to know that there are people willing to put that kind of money into our beloved hobby. Much respect :yay:

I thought that Thorongil was an unreleased mounted Hama? At least that's what I got off the Rare minis thread.

Thorongil ft and mtd is a model in its own right. a very nice model at that. Not sure about mtd Hama but there is a Mtd gamling without banner... I know because i'm chasing it now. (might take me a while to catch it tho - darned horses can run quite fast)

Thorongil is definitely Aragorn. It says so on the foot models tab

Is that the one that appears in the Two Towers Journeybook, in the Rohan painting guide section?

I though I had a picture of it from the miniatures hall in WHW...but I can't find it.

But yes, the one in the TTT journeybook is the unreleased version. I'm not to sure about the pose which is why we thought it was a conversion at first. But as was pointed out to us by the staff at WHW, all conversions are credited to the converter and this model was amongst all the rohan heroes.

Nice, I always liked that Gamling. It's a shame the character isn't great in game.
