Hobbit Throne of Skulls 2014 - 7/8th June

So WHW announced today that the hobbit ToS would take place over the weekend of 7/8th June

It is good to see the event on the calendar after a few weeks speculation that it might have been canned.

With that in mind, let's make this event sell out. Will prove to GW how strong and active the community is. Let's not give them reasons to consider cancelling it. I'll be there as always, hope to meet some of you down there.

Tickets arnt on sale yet but I'll make sure this is updated when needed.

Excellent news, I'll definitely be getting a ticket as soon as they come on sale.

Now I just need to decide which army to go. I have a horrible feeling that certain twitchy-eyed councillors and lumbering bears will be in attendance en-masse this year....

Fantastic news!

It is so important that we all support this event. The last 3 SBG events' attendance have been 90ish, 60ish and 32 and we need to stop the rot. As a result of the drop in attendance at last years doubles (32 people so only 16 teams!!!) it looks like GW have dropped SBG doubles and moved to a 1 SBG tournament per year format - not great news. This is the perfect opportunity for us to show them how big, active and passionate the SBG community is and make it a weekend to remember. The only way we stand a chance of bringing back doubles (if it has gone) is to make sure this event is a great success.

Weekends at Warhammer World are absolutely second to none in terms of wargaming. The venue is incredible, the miniatures gallery stunning, the staff are welcoming and friendly, THERE'S A DWARVEN TAVERN ATTACHED and the sense of community is absolutely amazing. If anyone out there is only tempted to go to one event this year then please, please, please make it this one.

Whatever people think about model prices/Finecast etc. I think we can all agree that we love this game and we need to turn up in force to show GW that there is a big fan base for this game and that they should continue to support SBG through releases and events for a long time to come.

@Knighty - Almost certainly, although after a few test games for Mansfield against Tom on Tuesday the Alfred/Bombur cheese certainly wasn't overpowering in an all hero force as they were so easy to get to. As I've said before I think taking the 2 of them along and hiding them behind the ranks of a normal army with only 2/3 heroes will actually be far more effective/cheesy. You can judge for yourself next weekend! :-)

Now, onto my TOS army, I've been thinking about/planning this for a while now, now I have a firm date to work towards I can get cracking on Dr Grant's 2014 master plan...

I'll be up for that, it falls at the right time of year for me (the students will have finished) so I can come up early on the Friday. Probably won't stay Sunday night as it adds another night's accommodation but I'm well up for getting to WW around noon on Friday and having a day of casual/practice games.

Awesome! In the past I've tended to arrive in Nottingham between 12 and 1 on the Friday, get a few practice games in (at doubles Louis and I had Elves vs Uruks 3000 pts aside...

) and leave early evening on the following Monday. Best way to look at it is treating it as a mini holiday

Great spot Nick and great news, that's pretty much the same cost as last year no? I had £60 in my head. Tickets on sale 5th March, lets promote, promote, promote and make this a massive event. 7 600 point games at Warhammer World - simply wonderful!

Yep, tickets went on sale for the TOS this morning and are already selling fast. There are only 46 in the original allocation and about 20 of those have already gone for sure. There's clearly less on sale than other events based on poor attendance at the last SBG event but the events team have hinted that there's a possibility that they'll put more on sale if there's a sell-out.
