So, I have compiled documents for each of the major factions (some are grouped) of the best miniature painting I could find on the web. Apologies for the poor quality in some pictures, I figured it was best to make them as large as possible to avoid further loss of resolution. You can always zoom out! Apologies also for the background watermark obscuring some of the subtitles. It got a lot darker when I converted the files to PDF for some reason.

Obviously I have not painted or created any of the miniatures pictured but have collected them from blogs, websites and this forum. I do not have permission of the owners to use the pictures, but I cannot see this being a problem - I only aim to help other hobbyists with ideas. If it is a problem then I can easily remove the pictures.

I hope these documents provide some inspiration.

Great Idea...Getting some inspiration now!

Maybe add it to your signature? That way people can always see it.

nice collections. I think some armies have a bit too many to use as inspiration. Many of the pictures make me want to stop painting altogether, which is a form of inspiration I suppose.

That may be due to the fact that I almost never find inspiration from LOTr/Hobbit models. I tend to look way outside the box at top painters stuff (regardless of the subject matter) to get a push or get inspired by real life stuff. I have not painted in weeks though, and I have painted every week since I switched from reaper and warhammer to LOTR back before the two towers film came to theaters (so a long time). I hope to be inspired soon and get back into it. I think if I stay off this OR site I may start to feel better about the hobby again, sad as that is to say.

Great Idea. This is what I love to see before I work on a new army.

This is the opposite of inspiration. I can never in my wildest dreams achieve this talent level lmao!

Nah joking man. Theyre gorgeous. Nice file. I thank you. Those are wonderful models.....I am inspired....just behind a brick wall on where to start. Its saddening.

I'm glad it is of use. I'll add it to my signature. It could always be stickied if people wish?

There is some nice painting there and a few ideas I might steal.

Does anyone know what models were used for those Stark looking troops in the fiefdoms set and those Norman Gondorian guys from Gondors set? I'd love to take a crack at something like that myself.

The Normans are by Ebob. Found here:

I think the others may be Perry but I'm not sure. They were found here:

Are you planning to expand on this over time to add more pictures you have found?

Yeah possibly. I'll wait until I've found a few rather than one at a time though.

When I was thinking of idea's to make an improved forum page I though about this. Your set up is way better than individual galleries and individual WIP posts. I have for a while thought that it would be cool if there were just a dozen topics in the WIP page only with headings like Gondor, Elven Kingdoms, Harad, etc. Sort of like you have on your site. This way when ever a person is going to paint a model for a force they have a vast wealth resource... can you imagine, every OR members WIP of elves in one place easy to find? Currently if you want to find pictures of for example DMS or Gandalf the Greys take on elves you would have to find there posts and dig through them. and once you do, you are only seeing their idea's on it and not the hundreds of idea's that are out there.
So this is brilliant and I wish it had more. Not only for inspiration (which I stated above I have trouble with) but also to just get a idea of how something looks or a different scheme (or the same one but you just want to see it). I hope you add more to this.

Yeah, possibly. Unfortunately I haven't been keeping up with stuff but I perhaps I'll have a sift through after my exams are done some time. Thanks though!

Just looked at the dwarves, both intimidating and inspiring. Some of the conversions especially I can't wait to have a go at!
