I'm thinking about an 600 point Woodelf list around Galadriel, Lady of the Light, but I struggle with it, because I am not able to get 3 warbands together. In the end I wrote this, but I am not sure it'll work:

White Council:
Galadriel, Lady of Light (leader)
Thranduil with bow

Loth-Lorien and Mirkwood:
Rúmil
6 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; Wood Elf spear;
6 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers;

Legolas
1 Wood Elf Warrior with Wood Elf spear;
1 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; Wood Elf spear;
8 Wood Elf Warrior with Elf bow; Wood Elf spear;
2 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers;
________________________________________________
600 points, 27 models, 12 might

First priority is killing shamans. With Legolas' auto hit and all the bows and throwing daggers it is be possible. After I killed the shamans, it should work with aura of dismay and Galadriels war aspect.
What do you think?

Hi,
You should take as much bows as possible. I also dont understand why you are taking Thranduilwith Galadriel in one warband. Let Galadriel be alone, Thranduil should lead warriors.

Warband 1 12/12
Legolas
4 Wood Elf Warrior with Elf bow; Wood Elf spear;
4 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; Elven blade;
4 Guard of the Galadhrim Court
----
Warband 2 12/12
Rúmil
3 Wood Elf Warrior with Elf bow; Wood Elf spear;
4 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing daggers; Elven blade;
1 Wood Elf Warrior with Elf bow;
4 Guard of the Galadhrim Court
----
Warband 3 0/12
Galadhrim Stormcaller

Warband 4 0/12
Galadriel, Lady of Light

Total: 600 Pts., Might: 10, Units: 28

why dont you try an all hero army?:

Saruman the Wise
Galadriel, Lady of Light
Elrond with Heavy armour;
Thranduil, King of the Woodland Realm
Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood
Total: 595 Pts.

Well it is not possible to take more than 8 bows with only two warbands. I don't want a stormcaller over Thranduil, because the list is built up on the combination of Thranduils Aura of Dismay and Galadriels Waraspect.
When I first wrote the list Thranduil and Legolas lead the two warbands, then I had 70 points free so I thought Rumil is a good idea. Then I swapped Rumil and Thranduil, because Thranduil taken out of the white council list gets the +1 to resist tests.

What do you think?

Two things

1-I think that building an army with Galadriel as an independent hero at 600 is ill advised. At 700 or 750 maybe.

You have too few units and against any army with the right build youre going to struggle for a win.

2-Your first priority should not be killing Shamans, unless you know youre playing a friend who only uses shamans.

Aura of dismay and war aspect are nice, but if you have priority, Id charge your flanks or the things that are out of her range. And if you encounter a shooty evil army you'll have issues.

As stupid as it sounds, for your army, Id make Galadriel a warband leader and get rid of legolas.

Otherwise I dont believe at 600 pts this works well.

Galdriel, Lady of Light is not allowed to lead troops.

What should be my first priority instead?

What I should say, I'll only play against evil armies with this so the courage of the opponents models will be low. If I have priority I just back away 6" and throw my daggers. If I hold them together even my flanks will be in range for the aura of dismay and Galadriels "blinding light" so shooting armies aren't an issue, too.
I agree on the low model count, but I don't know how to fix it, do you have any ideas?

I have used something similar. I really like the new Galadriel profile and I had always tried to find a way to use the old protectress of lothlorien one also.

I do feel that 600points is probably too few to make the most use of this army given how many points are dedicated to heroes.

Lordofbrown, I think the army is excellent at range due to the 10 elf bow shots (including heroes) and galadriels ability to have cast blinding light for free. Unless your opponent has cast blinding light (unusual at 600) or the shadow lord, I think your safe.

Frerin, the +1 to resist is ok but if you are up against an army that doesnt have any spirits then Galadriel can just float around casting fortified spirit on everyone nearby. In just a few turns your heroes will have 2 free dice to resist spells without needing will. Just one of the few reasons I love the new Galadriel profile 8)

However, who should Galadriel lead? She is part of th White Council list, so she cant lead troops.

1-Sorry, I brain farted and didn even read which one it was. I think she isnt the right model for an army this high.

2- Well......idk. I dont have ideas based off of what you want to do with your plan. All I will do is suggest to you to build in a more efficient way.

My main armies, and some of the more competitive ones are Harad, Isengard, and I use Hunter Orcs often.

Theres no way you can get your whole army in the 6"bubble she provides. I would use all my archery/charges on your flanks. And considering you have to win priority, theres a few issues.

1-Your enemy wins it, you expend might to counter, and possibly win.

2-Enemy has fury(anyone whos not a stupid opponent will hide his shaman behind at least two rows of troops. Sure, you can use legolas auto hit, but you still need to wound him twice on 5+'s, avoid the fury saves, and avoid his regular fate. If you auto hit him 5 rounds I doubt he would die. Those fearless troops will outnumber you and charge with terror

3-You lose priority....battle lines will be broken and it will be tough for your formation to recompose. Personally, if I saw you using this strategy I would just work the whole game to pick off anything you have out of the 6" range of her terror and aura of dismay. Also, if youre dealing with a tough wraith like the Witch King, youre going to absolutely position perfectly to attempt to banish him before he saps Thranduils will and your aura of dismay disappears.

@Nikrandonia-
Yes....it looks good, but for one as you said....the Shadow Lord. That demolishes much of your advantages.

Furthermore there is no guarantee hes going up against evil.
What about other popular armies? Elves vs elves? Hes not going to stop many with terror.

What if he plays khazad or citadel guard? Theyre going to tear the elves to shreds once they get to close quarters without needing terror tests.

What about some enemy cavalry with high courage?

The army is not bad. It can win. Im not saying it cant, but its not the smartest choice at 600 points having 4 heroes that are on average 95 points each.

Its possible to do well against armies, but having used Thranduil before, and wood elves often.........the strategy sounds good till your run into Uruks, who have high courage, or fury troops. Or just tons and tons of goblins. Yeah their courage sucks, but they can have fury, and at 600 points you can field 3x his number of troops.

Why not? Galdriel in the middle, Thranduil right behind her. Legolas and Rumil at her sides 11 Warriors on each side and the 2 others behind the line...everything in 6" of Galadriel and Thranduil.
LordoftheBrownRing wrote:

Why should I use the might. I'll let the opponent try to charge me. Then I either charge into the existing combats to get superior numbers or just stand and throw/shoot at the models, which failed their courage test.

So that is the point I fear and this is why I said first priority is to kill shamans ;) If he is hidden behind 2 rows it is no problem. I'll try the new heroic action (don't know the English name). All elves with throwing daggers who are to fare away will try to kill the orcs in front of the shaman and the rest hopefully only have to shoot through one row with reroll and maybe with a bit of Legolas' and Thranduil's might and a bit of luck I'll kill him.

Well I don't fear ringwraiths that much. With a channeled fortify spirits Thranduil has 2 dice to resist and only needs a 4+ if the wraith rolled a 6. I'd like to see a wraith trying to swap will Thranduil and not get banished by Galdriel. I could imagine this would be a lot of will points each round.

Well there is :D so do not worry about Khazad-Guard an all that nasty stuff with high courage (except for Berserkers).

But the problem is they are only 28 models, I'll test it as above if there are no other suggestions how to improve this list.

I don't think that the witch king causes any problems to Thranduil who should be covered by his elven cloak and a banishment every turn from gladriel would be tough to counter. Galadriel is so good against wraiths, spectres and shades it's crazy!

The only real suggestion I have is to possibly drop some throwing daggers for some Galadhrim as with a below average model count who are mostly at D3 you could be in trouble very quickly. Having some D4 or with a shield a D5 front line should help :)

You should report back after testing it, I would be very intereste to see how it does8)

Just one thing: Galadriel is not allowed to lead warriors, but you don't need Thranduil. She is simply her own warband.
