I was able to work out the modular components for the broken bridge head at the frozen lake on Raven Hill. I was not able to cut the foam because of the weather.I did not have enough ventilation to cut the pink foam core with the hotknife. The two halfs are each 1' by 1'.

It is hard to see. I discovered stacking the Dwarven Forge blocks that I need to change some measurements. This should go a little faster now.

I am using photos of the set from the Brian Sibley book. I am building the model like a movie set so the parts can be combined differently for different scenarios. I am using Dwarven Forge Blocks like legos. The photo is the drawing/plan. I am going to cut core parts from MDF and Pink Foam.I will replace the DF parts with cast from Hirst Arts.

Nothing is square yet. The sair on the left is just visible in one of the photos. It leads to the bridge. I used the DF narrow passage blocks to make the room. I am going to mirror the other door. This also leads to the bridge platform. The left stair will be the left hand edge of the model. The bridge platform will be on a separate section.

Cavern floor tiles attached with PVA

Rear wall. Short Moria column.

Stairs added. The wall added on the right with ruined brick mold and more cavern tiles. I have also started adding details to the tower wall.

The right side is finished except for the roof and priming.
I started laying out the left side. I am going to make the rocks on the right section as a separate part. I want to keep the sections as close to one foot wide as I can. They have to fit on the shelfs.
I am going to spend some time painting before I get too far into the next section.

Thanks for the nice coments

I painted the tile flat black last night. This morning I grouted the tile with drywall filler. The black paint seals the hydrocal. The drywall filler is then wiped off the surface. While it was wet I painted it again with flat black. I waited a few minutes and blended over the black with a green gray. While the paint was still tacky I sponged the tile with Raw umber and straw/yellow. This muddy mess will continue to blend as it drys. The paint softens PVA so I will have to wait to late this afternoon or tomorrow to dry brush in the more tradition way.

I might use the smaller column.

Let me know which one looks better.

Where is the column going ? At first glance the right hand column looks far more fitting.
