What is your favorite cavalry and why?

Being the army section of course I want to discuss why tactically, but also other reasons.

Personally I like the mahud. I think the idea is awesome, and also the charge damage is fantastic. The war gear options as well.

Your thoughts?

Favorite: Morgul Knights. Terror on cav is a concept I can get behind, and they are the only heavily armored evil Cav unit.

Best: Probably Haradrim Raiders. They have lances to punch through high defense, good shooting, and they are cheap on points so you can take a lot of them.

I don't really feel it fair to include a model with such a unique rule. I want this to be more of a unit you take in numbers.

Favorite: galadhrim knights, because I love the galadhrim.
I know they are too high costed and mostly don't do well in games.
But these guys have amazing movement and shooting and look amazing.

best: sons of eorl.
They lack the big disadvantage most cavalry have: being unable to defend themselves when countercharged. With their 2 base attacks they have got much less of a problem of winning a fight

Serpent rider for the best "points for value" units / Harad raiders for the nice mongolic "shoot 'n go" theme!

Favorite: Morgul Knights. I really like the design, their armour. They look amazing.

Best: That's tough. It's a close match between Son of Eorls and Mahud Raiders. With their special rule, Mahud can kill even before duel phase, and it's a big thing. Plus, they're perfect anti-cavalry models. But, I give the edge to the Rohirrim. Son of Eorls are the only 2 strikes cavalry unit, they have F4,S4 and are tough to put down.

Whilst I love the Rivendell knights I had to opt for warg riders due to what they can add to a basic orc horde in low pts games, cheap enough to field comfortably and still have high numbers and the strength 4 wargs mean that they have a reasonably good chance of killing isolated warrior of minas tirith and other D6 models etc.

I went with Mahud raiders, simply because they can be damned versatile
the impale rule it self is dirty beyond words
S4 unit with a warspear is really deadly D6 units take wounds on a 4+
Poisoned blowpipes, you can field them with 100% capacity leading to some interesting versatility
I love the mahud theme, and their heroes especially the king he has such a huge damage potential when mounted with warspear (3+ to wound D6)and shield for D6

I like gandalf on horse, such a great combination. For regular forces the mahud are pretty great. The free hit offered by their camel is awesome!

the Mahud are one of the few good anti-cavalry cavalry, as they charge they also inflict a S4 to the mounts of the opponent, potentially doing a lot of damage at the same time

Rivendell Knights for most effective

Morgul Knights for best looking.

I chose the Swan Knights of Dol Amroth, primarily because I loved them in the books. Unfortunately, I haven't started painting my contingent up yet...Too many other projects at the moment.

Personal favourite is Orc Trackers, so cheap and versatile, with a pretty high damage output. They drop like flies, but that almost doesn't matter. Just be smart with them and they'll do a job. The only problem I really have with them is that, despite their absurdly low points cost, they are expensive in the sense that you have to adhere to the 33% limit.

Orc Trackers for the simple reason that there versatile enough if used right and that there cheat enough.

They do die quick if used wrong but they do tie up the enemy while there around

Favorite and one of the best if used correctly (IMO) Swan Knights of Dol Amroth, love the models too.

Honorable mention Sons of Eorl, 2 attacks S 4 makes them very potent even when counter charged.

The Haradrim for me. Cheap, decent shots (and quite a few of 'em too), but pack a punch with those warspears. Look great once you remove the fences from their backs (or tusk-backpacks in the case of Serpent Riders). Thematic too. Really should finish painting those guys..!
