planning to have a 750 pts game with a m8 soon but i want to use one of these guys not both. in a minor competitive game (we like beating each other :D )what would be the better choice? i am leaning more towards budrdur and a extra cave troll because whats more scary then one troll? two but i love that the speed that Gulavhar has and he can regain wounds something that very little on what the force's of evil can do. btw the list contains lots of about 4 warbands of orcs (mix with bow's two hand weapons shields and spears) and warg rider's that add to to around 48 troops.

I think they both are going to add some nice killing power to your force. I would say if your opponent uses spell casters to go with Gulavhar due to his 3 will and resistance to magic but if they use an archery force I would take the trolls.

If you can protect Gulavhar from getting killed or wounded too much before combat I think he can do well with his fly and movement. If you don't want to worry about him then go with the trolls.

The trolls are better all purpose. Gully is really good at getting into position and taking on heroes, but with 2 trolls, one with 3 might, you can spread them out, letting them, do more damage. As said above, the trolls are also better against a lot of archers, Gully is better against magic.

Gulavhar is one of the biggest point sinks in the game.

Be careful with Buhrdurs low defense though...

Gulavhar is quite fragile and riscy hero. On the other hand, its cool, which can be bigger bonus than any stats. But if you want to be "wise", burhdur + barrowwight/troll could be worth more than gulavhar.
