So I am thinking about sculpting my own troll, but I want to know how much bigger the GW troll is from the normal sized figures, say Aragorn. I don't have one and don't want to go buy one seeing as I want to make my own, could some please tell me how tall the cave troll is please?

Thank You in advance.

And what kind of troll? One for Mordor/Isengard or a cave troll? (:

You c an make them as big or as small as you want: trolls will have different heights much like real people do ;) I would suggest about double the height of a dwarf to double the height of a man, not much taller. Use a dwarf's scale ratio to determine it's girth (basically, have it stocky like a dwarf, regardless of height, rather than thin like an elf ;) ).

I'm going to assume you already have the base you want to use: cavalry or monster. My advice is to just grab a picture or two of the GW troll that fits that base (Cave troll on the cavalry base) and just size it the way you want from there.
On a more specific note, I've sculpted a troll myself, with some technical advice from ebob. Start the beastie with a wire-frame skeleton to make sure he's in the pose you want and build onto that. I used miliput for everything but the outer layer, but I'm sure there are other solid putties out there as well. 8)
