If it weren't for Frodo destroying the ring, evil would have completely obliterated middle-earth (we are speaking LOTR-term good and evil, right?)

The bad guys outnumbered the good guys several hundred to one, at least. Keep in mind, 300,000 Orcs assaulted Minas Tirith and there were at least that many, if not more at the Black Gate in reserve. I doubt that Gondor, Elves and Rohan could have raised 100,000 together.

Speaking in military terms, the evil side was by far the more powerful.

Although, since this is in the WOTR forum, is this speaking in game terms? In which case I don't know, as I don't play WOTR. You were a little vague in your wording.

Actually, I don't think Tolkien specifically says anywhere how many Orcs attacked Minas Tirith or were present at the Battle of Pelennor Fields.

i read in a book called Lord of the rings weapons and warfare, that the defenders of minis tirith killed about 50,000 orcs and when Theoden and the Rohirrim arrived there were 150,000 orcs left... so that makes sense.

That book is based solely on the films. While Peter Jackson may have said there were 200,000 Orcs at the Pelennor, General Elessar may be right in saying that Tolkien never specified.

whitehand, 600,000 is way too much, i think they meant the Battle of the Last Alliance where there were 100,000 good v about 700,000 evil...

anduril is right i just checked, tolkien never specified how many orcs attacked minis tirith but hey let's just say there were many many many orcies there...
lol

anyway i think that the good armies are the better in wotr, especially the elves, with their fire power.

that's my opinion

Tolkien never specifies..all we know was evil had far more power and military might at its disposal than good; to the point where waging war against sauron would only end in defeat and enslavement ( or death )
we do know there were about 6000 riders or rohan at the pelennor (bookswise) and that they were outnumbered at least three to one by the haradrim alone, meaning there were at least 18, 000 haradrim, and a great deal of other evil mean not to mention the whole shatload of orcs that they don't even bother to count.

as to who is more powerful in the game? I'd have to say evil...they have access to the best line troops (morranons) the most powerful bows (crossbows) and access to cheap, dirty and effective spellcasters (nazgul and durzag)

all of whom are very expensive and can be countered with nazgul. not to mention evil has powerful heroes of its own like gothmog, lurtz, amdur, saruman, khamul, the betrayer, suladan and nazgul/ witch king on fell beasts. lurtz, suladan, gothmog and amdur can hold their own with just about any good hero as it is but when you have black breath thrown into the mix it ends in a very quick and messy death for the good hero in question.

You need to be more specific. Are you talking about in the books, films, SBG or WoTR? People have given you answers to what you asked, which was "which side is stronger?" The fact that you didn't add context to that question isn't our fault...

Well, it is in the WoTR forum.

However, I do agree with you that he needed to make the post far more clear. Also ellessar, you can't delete a thread. Only moderators can.

Edit: I also voted for Evil. :)

Because nobody had replied to your post. If no one has replied to the post, you can delete it. But there have been quite a few replies here, so only a RW can delete it. :)

I don't think that either is stronger in the game. GW works hard to make sure that games are fun for both sides, which is not possible if one side always gets stomped.
