I'm seriously thinking about starting a Last alliance and GC WotR army, does anyone know what I will need? I'm not planning to make a massive army in one go but to slowly enlargen my force. So say starting at 750pts. (if that is realistic) and working slowly towards 2,000 pts.

Well you are going to need things like this for that themed army:

High Elf Cohort

High Elves (archers and warriors)

Gil Galad

Isildur

Elendial

Numenorians (archers and warriors)

Elrond

These would be all the things that would make sense in a themed army. You proably want to make your army primarly elves and then add Numenor allies

Yes, that's the plan. How many companies of each would you say I need. I already have Elrond+Gg. Should I get any command blisters?

And also, I might add in a few wood elves if I feel like it.

A last alliance box gets you about 140 points of troops total. (One company each of High elves, High elf archers, and Numenoreans) Three boxes and a cheap hero like Cirdan can be used as a 500 point list, although a far from ideal one. Six boxes can work at 1000 points. I would recommend buying the boxes in sets of three, as units of expensive elves that are less than three strong are too fragile.

If you want to make a more effective list you probably want to play more numenoreans than elves, so you will not be outnumbered so badly. The only problem is that the metal models are very expensive and the plastic ones come bundled with the elves.

At 750 I would probably not take more than one hero. The general consensus is not to take unit command. However, high elf captains are not terrible. The only problem is that your units are already so expensive that you do not have lots of points to spare on command.

Woods elves are great, but fragile. I normally prefer them to other elves because they are cheaper. However, as you are already allying numenoreans, who are inexpensive, wood elves are not necessary. You may still wish to try a box.

On the positive side, you won't need any Numenorean spearmen. Only the archers.

Strictly speaking, High Elves and Numenor are two different army lists, and in WotR you can only spend 25% of your points on allies. Meaning that you'll have to spend at least 75% of points on either Numenoreans of High Elves. However, I expect most players won't find this a problem, and will let you field your High Elves and Numenoreans in any combination.

Meh, I don't think I'll expending that many points on Numenorians as only 1/3 of the box of the last alliance boxes have Numenorians and they cost less. Also, they're isn't much point in getting Numenorian blisters of archers as they cost more and aren't as good as elf archers.
