Which Siege engines would you guys advise for a pure Easterling army?
I'll replace the mini's that come with it by Easterlings.

Also... how to base them? Can I use the grey WoTR trays for it? Or is that too impractical?

Well some guy used a Mordor Siege bow as an Easterling one in the RoTK BoWD magazine. He kept the Seige Bow the same but converted a standard bearer to hold the pole that it fires.

I would recommend the Mordor Siege Bow and using its rules (I haven't the book with me and am assuming that it has them) and maybe add some scales on the wood.

Alternatively, use the Ballista and the Isengard rules and try to Eaterling-ify it....

No as in "No use the Gondor rules" or no as in "No, you're suggestions are wrong"?

If it is the first, then it's impossible to use Gondor formations in an Easterling army (unless he used the whole list as Gondorian rules).

If the second, it's a bit rude to just say no that I am wrong to suggest those as they are ideas for him, not statements of fact.

didn't mean your ideas are wrong at all. i forgot you couldn't just use the gondor rules. then i would use the orc ballista thing with avenger bolt thrower rules.

Use the Mordor rules, WD did carry rules to do just that. You can find them in Best of White Dwarf - Return of the King along with some marvelous scenario's written by me :p

In this, the easterling siege bow costs 60pts and 7pts for extra crew, it's a bit more expensive than the Mordor bow due to better chance of hit.

And the fact that Easterlings are a lot harder to kill.
