I had this situation last night. my fell beast was flying 12" away from a formation with a spellcaster in it. they in their move moved at the double!to come withing 6" of the Nazgul. unleashing tremor the spellcaster caused 5 wounds! one roll on the hard to kill table yielded a 6! Scratch one nazgul! a flying monster detroyed by an earthquake! A BIT FUNNY IF U ASK ME?

It could feasibly be hit by chunks of flying rocks.

I agree it's still a possibility, but I guess there should be mechanism to give them better chance to escape it than units on ground. may be a 50-50 chance or 5+ roll...

Ultimately, it is just the rules cutting both ways. You get to screen your flying monsters with foot units, an artefact of a turn based game. Flying monsters also don't get to just elect to jump up in the air when a spell hits.

a flying monster being hit by flying rocks during an eathquake?? what earthquakes have u seen that hurl rocks into the air out of the ground lol but yeh its a gamebalanceing issue the rule are simplified for tournament use to keep things equal f flying units had tht kinda rule then they wouldnt b able to b assaulted by ground units eiither

In turn-based wargames, it is generally accepted that flyers are more akin to gliders, landing at the end of their movement/charge and taking off to move/charge.

With that in mind, it is feasible that it doesn't have the steady footing for pushing off to fly and it starts to fall down a chasm, at which point its wings won't be able to spread to flap.

Indeed. This was also a theory I've seen multiple times on why the Balrog fell down the chasm in Moria.

however tht is a long on going thing as to wether balrogs can fly and wether they actualy had wings or not id look at it more as though the fell beast was attempting to land as the wizard cast earthequake cause it to unbalance and crash into the ground not nesceraly killing it but making it useless for the rrest of the fight nazgul being flung from its back
