Yes, S5 is definetly better. But it's also more expensive.

I will see how this list fares for the coming time, and if it doesn't work I will consider investing €100 for Royal Knights, but I don't think I will do it.

Maalve, the other option would be to simply convert all the Lance armed plastics into Royal Knights. I have a unit sitting on my shelf awaiting this treatment for my 4th Age (though it might now be mid-Third Age) Ithilien army, as allies. The key differences are the shields, helmet crests and the fact they have bow cases. Since they are plastics, getting rid of bow cases is not too great an issue, though I am going to leave mine. Helmet Crests are already there on some helmets, and you can add more with plasti-card. Shields are trickiest, though rearranging the allocation of shields amongst your figs / or sourcing something from a 25/28mm historicals supplier could be an option.
