I was just looking at his SBG profile (even though I play WOTR more often) and I wondered if you think that his Attacks and Wounds should be the other way round like normal Shamans because I think it's a bit strange for him to have a couple of attacks but only a single wound, when he's he shouldn't, when played properly, be attacking enemies in combat.

Yeah, most people figure it's a typo. I may have this wrong, but I believe GW acknowledged the typo but are sticking with the profile as written

Or not. He is a battery for another's Will points. So, it could be actual. Giving the impression that Kardush would rather get stuck-in and do as much damage as possible before being used up by his Superior.

His flame spell is 6", well within charge range of all but the dwarves and hobbits, but within Throwing range. So it could be a seen as a way to give him a :-X last-stand-do-or-die mentality. It's better to burn out than to fade away!

That's an interesting take. So Kardush is more of a Warrior-mage then?

He sure can be played that way. 2 attacks at str3, preceded by a str6 fire-strike (cast on a 3+), that could do some damage to the Good warriors. His stat line is comparable to most of the Good warriors. His defense is lower, but he makes it up for having...basically...3 attacks a turn. Since he can drain the essence from another orc to replenish his Will, its not likely he'll be running low early on.

Since magic is used at any point during movement phase, he could use the fire-strike to soften up a foe before engaging with his 2 attacks or clear a route for him to move through and engage (kind of a "free" Heroic Combat)/setup for anything else/flee/etc...

:puppy:

Im sure its a typo, your meant to keep him behind your spearwall and just cast fireball every turn, he can actually win contest of champions quite easily if you take as many orcs as possible. Our doubles plan was for me to go angmar and my partner to just take Kardush and max out on orcs. It would have done quite well but oh well, maybe next year....

By the way, would a 700pt army comprising Kardush, an Orc Captain, Orc Banner Bearer, 3 Spectres and 86 Orcs be a good list?

over the limit and 3 spectes wouldn't do much, replace them with a ringwraith, a troll and maybe even a shade.....

hahaha yeah, kinda got off topic.

Basically, if its true that GW came out and officially stated its a typo...and officially stated they are not changing the stat line...then officially the stat line is "correct." Typo and all.

Of course; if its a friendly game, talk it over with your friend and if they agree...switch the numbers.

How you use Kardush is up to you and you will figure out how best to use him in SBG. :D (though I like the idea of a Nazgul using him as their war mastiff, and deviously draining him of life to replenish their own magic  )

I was going to use him with a horde of orcs, cast fury, then when they close to the enemy start fireballing enemies, which is why more wounds would be useful, as for a list tthat isn't over the model limit: Kardush, Orc Shaman, 2 Orc Captains, 2 Orcs with banners, 66 Orcs an 3 Spectres. (I like Spectres though because they can move enemies whilst hiding safely behind your lines [no line of sight necessary]), when Kardush runs out of will, he need only kill a few orcs.

"Spectres though because they can move enemies whilst hiding safely behind your lines [no line of sight necessary])"

Not sure about this. I read it as though they DO need line of sight. After all they have to select a target, which requires line of sight. Is this covered in an official FAQ from GW?

It's in an FAQ on their website, which says they don't need lline of sight. I can't remember if it's Two Towers, Mordor or Ruin of Arnor, but it's definately there.

LOL you want to spend 75 on a def 3 wound 1model? A elf volley needs a 4 to woudn him and I don't even want to talk about direct shots. :P Sorry he is usleess in anything above 300 points.

Still the same one shot and he is dead. You really wan tto spend that much points on him if he never makes range to cast a spell? Only 1 wound is just useless sorry.

The question of this post though was whether it was a typo and he actually has two wounds. He also does have one fate point.
Maybe you'd prefer him in a list with OTT Shadowlord

I don't see how he is useless, he should be considered just as much as a shaman should be as that is essentially what he is, except he has two spells he can cast rather than one (only an idiot trys to transifx someone with a shaman) and is alot more versatile, he can spend the whole game casting spells and can also save a ringwraith's life, whereas a shaman just sits there as a useless lump of flesh whose only benefit is that he causes fury, which kardush can cast aswell.
